While discussing how to highlight the inherent worth in others, Tim Tebow reminded his fans that just making an effort to show up for someone can make a world of difference.

“So many people feel unseen or overlooked. But one moment of kindness can help them realize their true worth,” Tebow wrote on Instagram, adding, “Sometimes, all it takes is a single moment to remind someone that they matter. You don’t have to have all the answers or fix everything. Just showing up for them can make all the difference.”

Tebow has long called for Christians to make it a priority to treat everyone around them with dignity and respect, even when they are having a rough day. Tebow himself learned how to do this by committing himself to service whenever he received bad news to help him gain perspective.

“I have an agreement with one of my friends that when something bad would happen to me, that I wasn’t gonna do anything before I served,” Tebow said. “I would get cut from a team; there would be something disappointing; there would be whatever. It doesn’t matter where I’m at, we would meet and we would go serve. No one needs to see, no one needs to know, but we would just serve.”

This mindset not only completely changed his heart, but it also allowed him to better trust in God and realize that He uses all things for good. For example, after he was cut from the roster of the Jacksonville Jaguars, he realized that he was now given the opportunity to serve with his charity in the Middle East — something he could not have done as an NFL player.

“After that, all this stuff started to go down in Afghanistan, and we have a lot of teams that serve in the Middle East and in those areas. And so instantly our teams are calling saying, ‘Hey, this is chaos.’ I got to get on a plane to the Middle East, and I land in a country in the Middle East and right into an evacuee camp, and when we walk in, instantly, many people that were right around us were fighting for their lives. Puts things into perspective a little bit,” Tebow revealed.

“We finished serving at this evacuee refugee camp, and we get on a plane, we fly to another location in the Middle East, and it was on that flight that was really the first time since I had gotten cut that I actually could say, ‘God, thank you for letting me get cut. If I wouldn’t have gotten cut, I wouldn’t have had the freedom to have been over there, to serve in those locations, to do what I believe is my biggest calling in life, to serve the most vulnerable,’” he continued.

Thus, not only did his lifetime of serving others help those in need, but it also helped Tebow move on from the devastation of leaving professional football and live into his calling to help the most vulnerable people in the world — something he dedicates his life to.
