Tim Tebow shared the personal message behind his new book, If The Tree Could Speak.
“Why so many times in my life have I not been willing to share the greatest love story-rescue mission of all time?” he recalled asking himself during an episode of the “Unashamed” podcast.
Tebow continued, “And I really came down to two things — one, either I don’t really believe the message of the gospel, or two, I don’t really love people enough. I was willing to care more about them liking me than them knowing Jesus.”
“And that was just some of the heart behind this, and trying to tell this in a fresh new way where people would get a new perspective,” the NFL star concluded.

In If The Tree Could Speak: The Story of the Cross That Saw It All, Tebow explores the story of the cross.
“I decided to go back to when this tree was just a seed. Then it grew up, and it had dreams — and he dreams of being a door, a table or maybe even a throne. And then he hears about this carpenter that everybody’s praising, and he’s thinking, ‘Maybe that carpenter could turn me into a masterpiece,’” he told Fox News.
Tebow added that the tree’s “dreams were dashed when he gets cut into a cross, and he’s thinking, ‘No, a cross — that’s for criminals’….You fast-forward to his encounter with Jesus on the cross, and his perspective changes. He sees the love of God, and how his life is transformed because of this encounter with Jesus.”
“God could show up, and he can turn something that feels like only a mess into a message,” Tebow explained. “I feel like that’s the story of the cross. But it also gets to be the story of our life — that if the cross is true, then the life, the death, the burial, the resurrection and the ascension of Jesus are true.”
In a recent Instagram post, Tebow celebrated the success of If The Tree Could Speak, writing, “The response has been overwhelming in the best way — seeing it sell out in so many stores reminds me how big our God is.”
“My prayer is that this story helps you see Jesus with new eyes, not just what happened on the cross, but who He is: the Carpenter, the King, the Son of God,” he finished.
