During a studio presentation, Pixar chief creative officer, Pete Docter, teased details about TOY STORY 5 along with two new original movies in the studio’s pipeline.

“It’s a new tech tablet, which allows Bonnie to chat with her friends and play games and other things too,” Docter said about the movie’s suspected villain. “But Lily [the tech tablet] can also be sneaky and prickly to be around. And because, in her mind, it’s a lot better to be socialized, and Bonnie needs to move on from toys.”

This description sets the stage for a showdown between Lily and Jessie, who has previously been revealed to be the movie’s main hero, though Woody and Buzz will play major parts in the movie as well.

“I can tell you that [TOY STORY 5] is a lot about Jessie,” Buzz Lightyear voice actor Tim Allen told WIVB radio in April. “Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign. And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyear. I can give you that, but I can’t give you much more.”

Docter revealed what this opening scene has to offer, showing audiences a first look as a container full of Buzz Lightyears awaken on a deserted island where they are unable to reconnect with “Star Command.”

Along with these exciting new details about TOY STORY 5, Docter announced a brand-new animated feature: GATTO. Directed by LUCA creator Enrico Casarosa, GATTO follows the story of a water-hating cat who lives in Venice, Italy and befriends a lonely street performer, Maya.

Doctor also unveiled a first look at HOPPERS, a Pixar comedy about a nature-loving woman who transfers her mind into a robotic beaver after learning about plans to build a highway through her local forest. Once in the body of the beaver-robot, she communicates with the animals living in the forest and gets them to band together to protest the destruction of their home.

The audience at the presentation where also treated to a full 25 minutes of Pixar’s next movie ELIO, which releases to theaters on June 20. The movie follows the adventures of 11-year-old Elio Solis who is mistaken to be Earth’s ambassador after being abducted by aliens.

“I think right now in particular I think a lot of people in the world can relate to where Elio is at the beginning of the film, where he has a very pessimistic view of Earth, which I think sometimes we’re all feelings,” said co-director Madeline Sharafian. “[As the movie progresses] he changes his view of Earth a little bit, so by the end of the film there’s a little bit more hope. So even if we can give the audience a touch of that I think that would be worth it.”

HOPPERS will release on March 6, 2026, TOY STORY 5 is set to release on June 19, 2026 and GATTO will hit theaters in the summer of 2027.
