New York Knicks forward Trey Jemison believes putting your confidence in the Lord will transform your life.

“I’m gonna give you a scenario. Imagine that you’re a young basketball player. You’re 15, 16 years old, and your favorite NBA player – we’re gonna say it’s Jalen Brunson,” Jemison began a recent Instagram Bible study. “Jalen Brunson tells you, ‘Hey, bro, you’re gonna be a phenomenal basketball player. You’ll be better than me one day.’”

“You go out, go back to your hometown, and some eighth-grade basketball coach says you’re not that great,” he added. “But Jalen Brunson just said you was gonna be a great player, gonna be a phenomenal player, so you gonna let an eighth-grade basketball coach, who ain’t won no games, bother you?”

This scenario exemplifies how we should put our confidence in the Lord.

“See, that’s how confidence is. I need you to understand that we gotta stop letting people who have no authority, no power over our lives, dictate our confidence,” the forward explained. “See, the word of God says that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. The word of God says you are made in His image. And the thing about God, His image is perfect. God has no flaws. So, the God who created the heavens and the earth, created all the atoms, who created all the animals, the seas and the sky, said, ‘Hey, you are fearfully and wonderfully made, that you are more than a conqueror.’ What nobody else got to say about you matters. It shouldn’t affect you.”

“And what I’ve learned as I’ve continued to go throughout life, is that the devil cannot stop you,” he continued. “The only thing he can do is convince you that you’re not one of the ones, all he’s got to do is convince you that, ‘Hey, you’re not good enough, you’re not strong enough, you’re not supposed to be there.'”

“Why won’t you remind yourself [that] if God placed you there, if God woke you up, then you are more than a conqueror, that you’re supposed to dominate, that you are the head and not the tail. Everything that you prayed for, and God has answered, is for a reason, and God’s going to bless you in that, so stop letting the devil convince you that you’re not supposed to be there, that you’re not holding who you say you are,” Jemison emphasized. “You are more than enough. Whatever you said about yourself in your head or insecure as you have been, I need you to cast them down, rebuke them and speak life over yourself.”

What a powerful reminder to put our confidence in what the Lord says about us.
