UFC Fighter ‘Excited’ to Raise Son, ‘Serve Christ’ After Loss

While UFC fighter Bryce Mitchell lost his latest fight, he’s excited to spend his extra time with his family and serving Christ.

“Thank you all who prayed for me and thank Josh and Joe and Dana for making sure I was walked out of the cage early and sat down. Once I sat down, I came back to life,” he posted on Instagram.

“I’m very excited after this loss. (even though it was embarrassing cause I didn’t land a punch) I’m usually not even excited when I win,” he continued. “After a win I’m always worried about the next ‘bigger’ fight.”

“Right now, I’m excited because I get to raise my boy and be a husband. And I get to serve Christ outside the cage. I will be busy working on all sorts of things. I’m very grateful. I also think I’m happy cause you all are praying for me. I feel the Holy Spirit in me right now,” he added.

“’The Lord is my Shepard I shall not want.’ Psalms 23. You all go check it out. This verse has comforted me all week. My spirit is unbreakable when I surrender to the Lord,” Mitchell concluded.

Many know Mitchell for holding up his Bible following a big win at the UFC Vegas 79 fight.

After the fight, he explained why he brought his Bible along.

“I brought this Bible in here tonight because I do believe Satan has taken over this earth,” he continued. “We have to show Satan that he can do nothing through the power of Christ when we come together.”

The fighter often uses his social media to share his faith. In a Christmas Eve post, he wrote, “Who else turns to the Lord when they feel weak!? Surely, I’m not alone. Who else hates these demons that plague our country? Who else is ready to fight with me!? God knows every drop of blood sweat and tears we give Him! He will redeem us.”
