Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Cooper Kupp knows he was put on earth to play football so that he could glorify God and share the gospel.

“Because of my faith in Jesus, I know that I will never allow what I do to force its way into taking away from what I know my purpose is here,” the Super Bowl LX winner said at the Arise with the Guys conference in Minneapolis, per Sports Spectrum. “Like, yes, I was made to play the game of football, not to go do great football things, or to win Super Bowls. I was made to play football, to be on a stage, to be able to point to Jesus, to be able to call people to Him, to be able to live a life that reflects Jesus in every way.”

The wide receiver knows that without Christ, he wouldn’t be in the position he’s in today.

“I know that I would not be here without him, without the blessings in my life, without the way He’s intricately put the people directly in my life. My wife, who has been such a huge impact on me in my faith and in my journey to becoming a husband, a father – the father I want to be,” Kupp continued. “And you know, it’s because of His divine intervention that brought us together, and I know I’m so small. I’ve humbled myself to know that your plan is perfect. You have placed me here, and all I want to do is to serve you, glorify you. And that is where, you know, that’s where my identity lies.”

Kupp and his wife, Anna, share three sons: Cooper Jameson, 7, Cypress Stellar, 5, and Solas Reign, 2.

The athlete spends most of his free time with his family.

“Where the spotlight is shining the brightest is rarely where the most meaningful moments occur. So thankful to be able to share in THESE moments with the people I love the most! @annamariekupp and my boys, I love you all dearly,” Kupp shared in a March Instagram post. It included photos of him and his family after the season ended.

Whether Kupp is on the field winning Super Bowls and MVPs or on the sideline, he knows that his identity is not in how he performs as an athlete. It’s in who he is in Christ.
