Everything You Need to Know About Angel Studios’ HOMESTEAD Franchise

Angel Studios and Jesse Hutch are clearing up any confusion you might have about their HOMESTEAD franchise.

“Wondering what sets the HOMESTEAD movie, TV series, and reality series apart? ? We’ve got you covered!” Angel Studios posted.

“Start by watching the movie in theaters this December, then immerse yourself as the story continues in the HOMESTEAD TV series,” the studio said. “Don’t want to wait? You can jump into the unscripted reality show HOMESTEAD: FAMILY SURVIVAL right now in the Angel app.”

Hutch broke down what exactly the three different parts are all about.

“Chaos ensues on the West Coast, setting off a trigger. Power Grid is down, the internet is out, and we follow a whole bunch of individuals and families that ultimately end up on a 300-acre homestead,” Jesse Hutch said of the post-apocalyptic movie. “They have to learn how to survive, how to work together and how to protect one another.”

Hutch, who plays Green Beret Evan Lee, also stars in the series along with Dawn Olivieri and Bailey Chase.

“He’s grounded. Calm. Collected. He seeks to do the right thing and he encourages others to find their best character traits. He also has an animal inside,” Hutch says of his character who is hired to protect the compound.

The TV series is a continuation of the movie based on the novel “Black Autumn” by Jason Kirkham and Jason Ross.

“HOMESTEAD is set against the backdrop of a collapsing civilization and tells the gripping story of two families — the ultra-prepared wealthy family and the military veteran family they’ve hired for security — who clash in a world teetering on the brink of chaos,” Deadline described the series. “As tensions rise and the dangers outside grow, evidence mounts that divine intervention may play a role in their survival.”

Not only is there a movie and a TV series, but there is also a reality TV show, HOMESTEAD: FAMILY SURVIVAL, that follows people who live on homesteads.

“So maybe you just want to make some bread, maybe you want to start an animal husbandry or buy some chickens, whatever suits you. You can check it out and get into it,” Hutch said.

Neal McDonough, who is known for playing the heavies in series such as YELLOWSTONE and the movie THE SHIFT, goes against type, playing a wealthy homesteader Ian Ross.

“This guy I’m playing has lots of money and everyone wants into my homestead and my compound. I hire these military guys and they’re saying no one can come in,” he revealed in an interview with New York Live. “But my heart just breaks when I see these people and I start giving everything away.”

“To me, Ian is all of us. Just a man trying to do right by his conscience—the commitments he’s made to his wife and family, to his God, and to his fellow man,” McDonough wrote in an Instagram post. “He doesn’t always get it right. And really, none of us do, but for the grace of God.”
