The WHEN HOPE CALLS stars are promising Season 2 will be full of family fun and romance.

“Hallmark alums Cindy Busby and Christopher Russell — who are set to play Nora and Constable, Mountie Michael, respectively in WHEN HOPE CALLS Season 2 — confirmed at Christmas Con 2024 in December that they will be reuniting as romantic interests in the upcoming revival of the WHEN CALLS THE HEART spinoff,” Soaps reported.

“Yeah, I don’t know if any of you were aware that Cindy and I have worked together before,” Russell said. “We’ve done four movies together. And then when — I’ll just tell my side of it — when I was offered the role of the new Mountie in town, I think I was accidentally BCC’d on an email chain and shouldn’t have been.”

“And I saw that Cindy Busby was also going to be a part of the show. And that was it. I was like, ‘You’d better get me on that,’” Russell said.

Russell let slip that the season will focus on Nora and Michaels’s romance.

“There’s gonna be a little bit of family-oriented fun, there’s gonna be a lot of heart, and let me tell you, there’s gonna be some romance,” he said. “Some people are gonna fall in love, they might even kiss, I don’t know.”

Busby and Russell starred together in WEDDING BELLS, LOVE IN THE FORECAST, CHASING WATERFALLS and WARMING UP TO YOU.

WHEN HOPE CALLS Season 2 will also feature Nike Bateman (Wyatt), Wendy Crewson (Tess Stewart), Hanneke Talbot (Maggie Parsons), Morgan Kohan (Lillian Walsh), Ryan-James Hatanaka (Mountie Gabriel) and the recently added Trevor Donovan (Constable Reynolds).

“WHEN HOPE CALLS, a spinoff of Hallmark Channel’s WHEN CALLS THE HEART, premiered in 2019 on Hallmark’s former streaming service, Hallmark Movies Now,” Soaps said. “The series followed Lillian and Grace, two orphaned sisters who were originally introduced on When Calls the Heart‘s 2018 holiday special, The Greatest Christmas Blessing, who were separated as children but reunite as adults and open an orphanage in the small western Canadian town of Brookfield in 1916.”

The show first aired on Hallmark in 2019 and was canceled soon after. Great American Family picked up the series with two Christmas specials in 2021.

Soaps reported, “News broke in 2024 that Great American Family had picked up a second season of the series set to premiere in 2025. Of the original cast members, only Kohan, Hatanaka, Talbot, and Stewart are confirmed to return for Season 2.”

The second season started filming at the end of September 2024. The premiere is set to air sometime this year.
