Will Kenan Thompson Appear in the MIGHTY DUCKS: GAME CHANGERS Season 2?

By Movieguide® Staff

Kenan Thompson is revealing what the second season of his sitcom KENAN has in store for viewers. The show will return to our screens on January 3 at 8 p.m., but before that, the show will put out a holiday special.

The second season of the show will shine the spotlight on more of the supporting cast members, like Chris Redd, who plays Thompson’s brother on the show.

Thompson is excited to give time to different actors, saying, “We all have our individual careers that we are pursuing at the same time, so it’s nice to see everybody get that opportunity.”

The new season will also see Kenan’s character explore life as a widower and try to reenter the dating scene.

“I just wanted the show to mature and start to look like more of a natural existing thing, instead of something that was just filled with exposition,” Thompson explained. “Whenever I watch reruns of MARTIN, it didn’t matter what season. It was just like, ‘Any episode, let me tune in with this group because I know there’s funny stuff that’s going to be happening for the next half-hour.’”

According to Movieguide®, “Though NBC’s KENAN may center around a single father trying to raise his two daughters after his wife’s death, it’s not safe for your whole family. However, though there are some cautions that make the show unsuitable for children, parents may find the show enjoyable.”

While Thompson has his hands full with KENAN and his weekly appearances on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, he might be showing up in Disney+’s THE MIGHTY DUCKS: GAME CHANGERS.

Thompson appeared in THE MIGHTY DUCKS movies, and hopes to reprise his role in the second season of the show.

“I would love to do it if they can figure it out,” Thompson said. “I told [Game Changers showrunner Steve Brill] I wanted to do Season 1, but they ended up having to do it without my participation [due to scheduling]. There’s only one me. I can only be in one place at a time. I will do my best, because I still can skate.”

In a review of THE MIGHTY DUCKS: GAME CHANGERS, Movieguide® said, “The last three episodes of Season One of GAME CHANGERS are funny and inspiring. They address many themes and issues from a moral perspective. Good sportsmanship, loyalty, fairness, responsibility, and hard work are all looked upon favorably. At the same time, lying, manipulation, cheating, and poor sportsmanship are all explicitly displayed as wrong. That said, there is no references to God, faith or religion in the episodes. In fact, at one point, Alex thanks hockey for all it has done for her rather than thanking God for her son’s talents and for His provision in providing them with a team.”
