Worship Artists ‘Praise the Lord’ at the Grammys
By Movieguide® Staff
Christian artists praised God at the Grammys last night.
“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord,” Elevation Worship declared from the Grammys red carpet. The group was nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for their song “Praise” and Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for their album When Wind Meets Fire.
“I think there’s a sentiment in this song that that says, ‘As long as I’m breathing, I’ve got a reason to praise the Lord,’” Pastor Steven Furtick, a composer for Elevation Worship, said of their song “Praise.”
“And sometimes we get caught up in all the reasons we have to be depressed and to be discouraged, but you know that breath — that next breath in your lungs — its not promised, and we’re reminded of that right now at this time, and I think it gives us more of a reason to…thank God for this day and this moment,” he continued, adding that he is praying for Los Angeles and all those affected by the wildfires that ravaged the area last month.

“We pray that as God gives you the next breath in your lungs that you would realize He’s not done with you yet. He has a purpose for you, and His hand is on your life,” Furtick concluded.
It was a big night for Christian worship at the Grammys.
The title of Best Gospel Performance/Song went to “One Hallelujah” by Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Erica Campbell and Israel Houghton, featuring Jonathan McReynolds and Jekalyn Carr.
CeCe Winans won Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for her song “That’s My King.” She also scored the Best Gospel Album award for More Than This.
“I had to get on to say thank you, thank you, thank you,” Winans posted on Instagram shortly after her wins. “Early today, we were blessed to win two Grammys…so I have to start out by saying thank you to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for being my Lord and Savior…I’m so blessed by what God has already done, but I’m more excited about what He’s going to continue to do for His glory.”
Six-time GRAMMY nominee DOE took home the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album award for Heart Of A Human.
