‘You Are so Loved’: Nightbirde Encourages Followers to Pursue Joy

By Movieguide® Staff

Former AMERICA’S GOT TALENT contestant and fan-favorite Nightbirde recently shared how she has learned to trust God as she battles cancer.

Nightbirde, whose real name is Jane Marczewski, updated followers on Instagram after she was forced to step down from competing in AGT due to her health.

“This is going to sound strange, but for all the suffering I’ve done, I don’t know a whole lot about pain. I guess there isn’t much to know about it. It just happens. It just is,” she wrote

“I do know a lot about how the leafy shadows bounce on my bedroom wall. I do know a lot about how ordinary people save the world—by showing up with soup, by saying, ‘sweetheart, I am so sorry,’ by singing old songs, texting the heart emoji, weeping,” she said. “I do know a lot about joy, somehow, and what it means to breathe.”

Nightbirde, who is open about her faith in God, does not shy away from encouraging others despite her circumstances.

“I know that hope always grows back after being poisoned. I know that laughter is the only thing formidable enough to interrupt the speeches I give about resigning to be unhappy forever. I know that redemption can find the tiniest hole in the roof and drip drip drip until I wake up drenched in songs about tomorrow,” she said.

“I’ve never been to a place without pain, but one time my friend with the gentle green eyes told me, ‘You don’t have [to] be more than what you are right now.’ And I think after that I was actually healed,” she added. “I know that agony can turn me inward and inward and inward until I’ve gone so far that I snap through the bottom like a rubber glove. Then I’m hovering in a place where I don’t need to prove myself anymore or be remembered. That’s my favorite place I’ve ever been.

“I’m not sure if I know how to fight for my life, but I do know how to open my eyes in the morning, and that’s not nothing. I don’t know exactly what it sounds like when God talks, but I recently started remembering my name because I heard myself whisper ‘Jane you are so loved.’”

Worship leader and singer-songwriter Jane Marczewski, better known by her stage name Nightbirde, went viral after her heartfelt performance of an original song earned her a “Golden Buzzer” on AMERICA’S GOT TALENT.

“On June 8, Marczweski walked onto the stage with a smile as judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofia Vergara posed their introductory questions,” Movieguide® previously wrote. “Behind her joyful attitude, the 30-year-old Marcweski revealed that she was battling cancer in her lungs, lymph nodes, ribs, liver, and spine.”

After the 30-year-old Liberty University grad sang her original song “It’s OK” on the show, the song hit the top charts on iTunes.

Although Nightbirde revealed that she has a 2% chance of living, she told audiences during her audition to look beyond her circumstances.

“It’s important that everyone knows that I’m so much more than the bad things that happened to me,” she told the judges.
