Ginnifer Goodwin, the voice of Judy Hopps in ZOOTOPIA 1 and 2, opened up about her threequel hopes and Judy and Nick’s romance.
It’s not certain whether there will be a ZOOTOPIA 3, but Goodwin knows there’s tons of room for future stories.
“There are other worlds that I would love to see explored, because it didn’t even occur to me when we were making the first one, like, ‘What about the semi aquatic animals?’ If you stayed for the post-credit scene of ZOOTOPIA 2, we introduced another world with a new type of animal. I wouldn’t even pretend to be able to predict what it is that they’ll do with ZOOTOPIA3,” she said.
The post-credit scene showed a feather falling next to Judy and Nick’s carrot recorder pen.

Officer Judy and her partner, Nick’s relationship, feels very worn-in and familiar throughout the movie.
“We did discuss that Judy and Nick are now at a phase when you’ve just moved in together — when a relationship is still new, but you suddenly live in the same house and are figuring out what to do,” Goodwin said. “I feel like without question these characters are soulmates. That didn’t even need discussing.”
Jason Bateman, who voices Nick, told Collider, “We’re getting dangerously close to the opposites attract and tension-is-humor problem with this. They’re starting to really like each other a lot, at least my character is starting to change a bit for the better. Judy doesn’t need a lot of changing.”
Bateman and Goodwin are A-OK with the romance.
Goodwin said, “The only thing I will say is that Jason Bateman and I joked about what kind of creature would emerge from Judy and Nick as an offspring, and he pointed out that a fox and a bunny make a ‘Funny.’”
Goodwin, a mom of two, loves that her job lets her be a part of family movies that everyone can enjoy.
“As a parent, there are some really good family films that come out throughout the year, but I wish there were more,” she said. “When I go to the theater with my kids, I sometimes take them to movies that aren’t appealing to me. Something like ZOOTOPIA hits on every level.”
Movieguide® wrote a largely positive review of ZOOTOPIA 2. Part of the review reads, “ZOOTOPIA 2 is an action packed, heartwarming fantasy adventure with loads of laughs and great animation… However, ZOOTOPIA 2 has a few implied adult jokes, two light profanities, and scary scenes of peril in the movie’s often exciting and comical action scenes… We suggest ages six and above are more appropriate.”
Fans have to wait to see if they’ll get more of Judy and Nick’s story in the future!
