More Detail:
A CHRISTMAS LETTER is about a foster mom of six who is about to lose her kids because she cannot afford the cost of repairs needed for their home. Things begin to shift when one of the children writes a letter to Santa for help. The movie encapsulates the joy of Christmas by bringing faith, hope and love to a family in need. The main characters pray to God for a miracle and offer love and encouragement to each other.
Leslie is a single foster mother who’s never had time for a husband. She inherited the foster home from her parents and works devotedly to keep things running. One of the children, Samantha, escapes to the rooftop to deliver a letter to Santa in hopes he can help.
With a budget already stretched, Leslie is informed that she must make $50,000 worth of repairs to the home. A distasteful social media influencer, Milan, wants to become an “Insta-mom”. She offers Leslie $50,000 in exchange for Samantha. Leslie turns her down flat because she’s promised not to separate Samantha from her brother, Wendell, who is also one of Leslie’s foster children. The “Insta-mom” wannabe runs to Daddy, a crooked town code enforcer, Gerald Montgomery. Gerald threatens to remove all the children if the repairs aren’t made by Christmas Eve.
Meanwhile a friendly mailman, David, has an interest in Leslie. He often stops in to play hockey with Leslie and the children. David invites the children to the post office so they can mail their letters to Santa. Samantha and Wendell see this as an opportunity to get to the North Pole to employ Santa’s help. The children become stowaways when they hop on the mail truck with the letters. So, David and Leslie must go on a road trip to bring them safely back home.
David and Leslie find the children at a home owned by a man who looks just like Santa. Could he really be the force behind a series of unlikely circumstances that brought them together? Back at home, David’s father devises a plan to save the family’s home. However, Leslie may not make it back in time for the home inspection. Her absence could shut down her foster home for good.
