GOD’S HERE

"The Forgiveness Empowered by Christ at Christmas"

What You Need To Know:

GOD’S HERE is a drama on Amazon Prime and AppleTV+. Firefighter Jack Gilmore from Granbury, TX loves his wife and son, but when they tragically die in a hit and run, Jack is left with many questions about how life should continue. Things get complicated when it’s revealed the culprit, a teenage girl, borrowed the car from the son of the detective investigating the hit and run. Can Jack find a way to forgive the culprit, and can the culprit be redeemed as well?

GOD’S HERE has high production values, with some pretty outstanding dramatic scenes. The acting is excellent. Some scenes seem a little forced, but that’s only occasionally. GOD’S HERE has a strong Christian worldview. For example, a boy says clearly, “I know Christmas is about the birth of Jesus.” The boy then retells the Nativity Story. The redemption of Christ is seen as the real meaning of Christmas. His power shines through as a man is given the strength to forgive what would seem impossible to forgive. MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for young children due to some violence and thematic elements.

The production values are decent, with some pretty outstanding scenes. For example, the crash scene is well done, with impactful build up and shows the devastating nature of death without being gruesome. The man’s struggle is very real, showing how loss can cause a person to ask what the meaning of life is. The music is fitting with the emotions of each scene, without being repetitive. The acting is pretty good. Some scenes seem a little forced, but that’s only occasionally. The scene transitions are also meaningfully done. For example, one character looks at his reflection in a window and the scene shifts to another character looking into a reflective mirror.

GOD’S HERE has a strong Christian worldview. There are necklaces with crosses shown. Also, a man reads a book called “St. Nicholas” and says, ‘Huh, so that’s where St. Nicholas comes from.” When a toilet is seen flushing, it seems to be signify the draining of the commercial Santa Claus franchise down the toilet. Some characters sing “Joy to the World.” A boy says clearly, “ I know Christmas is about the birth of Jesus.” The boy then retells the story of the Nativity. Ultimately, the redemption of Christ is seen as the real meaning of Christmas. His power shines through when a man is given the strength to forgive what would seem impossible to forgive.
