What You Need To Know:
LONGLEGS is somewhat involving when it’s following Lee and her investigation. However, the plot twists lead to two more families being destroyed. Also, the movie reveals that Satan’s the one who’s seducing fathers to kill, but it never really explains how. Thus, Satan eventually has a final victory, even though Lee severs his connection to the killing method. Finally, the ending has a flashback to Longlegs’ final words, “Hail Satan.” LONGLEGS also contains bloody ultraviolent images, strong foul language and anti-Christian content. The movie is as demonic as its villain.
Content:
(OOO, AbAb, LL, VVV, AA, DD, MM): Dominant Worldview and Other Worldview Content/Elements: Very strong occult, even Satanic and demonic worldview about two FBI detectives trying to capture a creepy dollmaker who says he’s serving Satan by helping Satan and his power get into families’ home and seducing parents, usually a father, to brutally knife their families and where, although the female FBI detective severs Satan’s connection to the seduction method, she fails to stop one more family from being brutally destroyed, and the movie ends with a flashback to the creepy dollmaker saying, “Hail Satan,” and some strong Anti-Christian, anti-biblical content where the female detective’s mother, after years of encouraging her to pray, admits to her she doesn’t believe prayer really works, and an accomplice to murder dresses as a nun; Foul Language: 11 obscenities (including abut four “f” words), two Jesus profanities, three GD profanities, and a character vomits after doing something with violent consequences; Sex: No sex; Nudity: No nudity; Alcohol Use: FBI detective goes to a bar to drink and gets a bit tipsy, so his partner drives him home (partner just sits in the bar while the man drinks); Smoking and/or Drug Use and Abuse: Brief smoking and an image of pills implies a character is self-medicating herself; and, Miscellaneous Immorality: One character makes a deal with the killer and his “boss,” Satan (the character never meets Satan; the deal is really only just with the killer), deception and the killer is creepy around a little girl and a teenager in a convenience store, but it isn’t portrayed as sexual, at least not in an overt way (the teenage girl shouts to her father in the back, “Hey, Dad, that gross guy’s here again.”)
More Detail:
LONGLEGS is like a cheaper made version of SILENCE OF THE LAMBS and other Hannibal Lecter movies. However, in this case, the female FBI profiler, Agent Lee Harker, is slightly psychic, and she’s chasing a demonic serial killer nicknamed Longlegs. Longlegs writes coded letters to the FBI indicating he believes he’s following direct orders from Satan. Lee and her partner, Agent Carter, who’s leading their investigation, track down past and recent victims of Longlegs. He targets families and, somehow, gets fathers to do his terrible, demonic bidding. The trail to Longlegs leads to surprising twists that bring the case close to home.

Thus, in the end, Satan has a victory, even though Lee severs Satan’s connection to the method the killer uses. Finally, the movie’s ending has a flashback to the final words of Longlegs, “Hail Satan.” There’s also a scene with Lee’s mother where her mother, after years of encouraging Lee to pray, admits to Lee she doesn’t really believe prayer works. LONGLEGS also contains bloody ultraviolent images, some strong foul language and brief anti-Christian content.
Some are praising Nicolas Cage for creating a different kind of creepy horror villain. They also praise the movie for some of its strange details, occasional absurdities, creepiness, and scary quality. However, the movie is as demonic as Cage’s creepy, sometimes annoying performance.
