SCHOOL OF MAGICAL ANIMALS 2 is a sequel to a German fantasy adventure movie, based on a series of books. This time the Winterstein School building is closed for repairs. So, the children temporarily attend school at an ancient building. The children must perform a musical to celebrate the school’s 250th Anniversary. Their lack of cooperation creates chaos. Meanwhile, strange holes appear on the school grounds. The children must work together to produce the musical and to catch the vandal.

SCHOOL OF MAGICAL ANIMALS 2 has engaging, whimsical, humorous moments of adventure, music and dancing. Two more children receive magical animals. This creates some new humorous situations with cute little animal friends. The movie is geared, however, toward older children because it revolves around a sweet romance, plus a romantic triangle with the girl bully. Also, the story sometimes wanders, and the acting could be better. SCHOOL OF MAGICAL ANIMALS 2 has a strong moral worldview with redemptive content. SCHOOL OF MAGICAL ANIMALS 2 is a sequel to a German fantasy adventure movie, based on a series of books about middle grade children at Winterstein School.

This time The Winterstein School building is closed for repairs. Students must attend school at an ancient building. The principal informs the children they must perform a musical of his choosing.

However, under the guidance of their teacher, Miss Cornfield, and with the help of her brother, the owner of the magical zoo, Mortimer Morrison, the children write their own musical. Ida directs the musical. However, the mean girls at the school, led by Helena, make the task almost impossible.

Helena is jealous of Ida’s relationship with Yo. So, she causes trouble between them in order to win him over for herself. Helena also constantly puts other people down, and treats one student, Anna Lena, as her slave. Anna Lena has the talent and desire to play the lead in the musical. Will she ever find the confidence to compete against Helena, and risk bringing the terror of the “mean girls” onto herself?

Meanwhile, mysterious holes appear all over the school property. Principal Siegmann warns the schoolchildren that authorities will close the school if the vandalism continues. Chaos engulfs the school and the production of the musical is threatened.

Can everyone work together and save the musical, and the school?

Based on a series of books, SCHOOL OF MAGICAL ANIMALS 2 has engaging, whimsical, humorous moments of music, dancing and comical adventure. However, the sequel is geared toward older children because it centers around a sweet romance between Ida and Jo, which includes a bit of a triangle with Helena, the school bully. The movie plays like a cross between HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL and MEAN GIRLS, which is briefly referenced. The plot sometimes wanders a bit, however. Also, the acting could be better, but this may be due to the dubbing over the original German.
