THE LADIES MAN

What You Need To Know:

In THE LADIES MAN, Leon Phelps hosts a call-in radio show intended to help people with their personal relationships. His “help” is quite lewd, however, and the show pushes the boundaries far enough to get him and his producer, Julie, fired. Leon must find a new job and thinks he has found the answer when he reads a letter from one of his past affairs. The woman offers to take of him financially if he will take care of her romantically. The problem is, finding the woman’s real name is nearly impossible because she only signed the letter, “Your Sweet Thing,” his name for all the women he sees. Leon begins to give up looking and appreciate Julie’s qualities. Soon he is distracted by an angry mob of husbands whose wives have cheated with Leon, and he finally finds “Sweet Thing.” Leon eventually realizes that being “the ladies man” isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Despite a few laughs and a somewhat moral ending, THE LADIES MAN contains nudity, sexual connotations and many other questionable elements. Furthermore, the main character fornicates with dozens of women, many of whom are married

More Detail:

Tim Meadows brings his character, Leon Phelps, from TV’s SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE to a full-length motion picture in THE LADIES MAN.

Leon (Meadows) is the host of a call-in radio show intended to help people with their personal relationships. His “help” is quite lewd, however, and the show pushes the boundaries far enough to get him and his producer, Julie (Karyn Parsons), fired. Lester (Billy Dee Williams), owner of a bar in Chicago, recalls how Julie and Leon first met when Julie, left at the altar, came into the bar to drown her sorrows. Leon walks up to her and says some things to make her laugh. Before long, she offers him a job at the radio station where she works and later ends up in her current predicament.

Leon must find a new job and thinks he has found the answer when he reads a letter from one of his past rendezvous. The woman offers to take care of him financially if he will take care of her romantically. The problem is, he doesn’t know the woman’s name because she only signed the letter, “Your Sweet Thing” – his name for all of the women he sees. He tries to find her by using his big “black book” which contains the phone numbers of all of the women with whom he has had encounters, but to no avail. It is only when he gives up hope that he seems to see true love in Julie, only to be distracted by an angry mob of husbands whose wives have cheated with Leon, whereupon he actually finds “Sweet Thing.” Leon eventually realizes, however, that being “the ladies man” isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
