More Detail:
THE MYSTERY OF RAMPO is a fictional, heroic tale about a writer named Rampo, who in the midst of writing his story, encounters government censors who ban him from publishing his work. They are concerned because what he is writing is actually happening in real life, and they believe that real people are acting out the script. After Rampo feels deep disappointment and hopelessness, his friends urge him to complete the book, allowing him closure on his fantasy. In the book, Rampo’s alter ego and character is named Detective Adkechi. He places himself center stage with a beautiful woman named Osei. Osei is a woman who is living in agony with her ill, convalescent husband. She is dying to live a more passionate life. Detective Akechi is the hero who would ultimately save her from her ill-fated destiny and give her all that she needs and desires.
This movie is sure to intrigue and mystify adult audiences. They will be able to relate to the desire of wanting to be someone they are not and watching that someone come to life bringing structure to someone they love. Many symbolic references are made and dreamlike film sequences serve to draw you into a vertigo somewhat like the Hitchcock film by that name. Regrettably, eroticism and sexual immorality sour this bittersweet tale.
