Buck, a forest ranger who also served overseas in the military, is flying a billionaire around to show him possibilities for buying some land. Upon arriving at the first set-up, Buck warns the billionaire he would be working on a major fault line.
The billionaire decides to move to a different plot of land, but they quickly run into another problem. Geologist Jessica Alamay is conducting scientific studies of the earth exactly where the billionaire wants to start working. Buck and Jessica don’t get off on the right foot, because Jessica thinks it was Buck’s idea to force her to leave her research on such quick notice.
Jessica’s worries soon switch from her studies to her safety, however, when an uncontrollable wildfire springs up in the surrounding forest. While Buck and his team have successfully evacuated everyone, Jessica turns off her radio, so she doesn’t have to talk to Buck.
Buck flies in by seaplane to help evacuate Jessica, but things quickly go south when his plane is destroyed. Thankfully, Jessica has a Jeep. The two must put aside their differences in order to survive. Reluctantly, Jessica and Buck pack up her things in the Jeep and begin outrunning the wildfire.
As their personalities clash, the fire around them gets worse. A falling tree not only blocks their path to safety but also totals their jeep, and they must continue on foot. As they continue to talk and brave the wilds together, will their differences be their downfall, or will they work together to escape? Finally, as they brave the wilderness together, will love also catch fire?
