Though the first episode of Season One of THE HUNTING WIVES is entertaining, it is ultimately extremely hedonistic. It places an extreme emphasis on a romantic worldview as characters glorify following the whims of their hearts rather than living by a strong moral standard. Furthermore, multiple characters acknowledge the existence of God and even confess His sovereignty but choose to live apart from the teachings of the Bible anyway. Moreover, the show features very strong language with 37 total profanities and obscenities along with graphic nudity, which includes a lingering shot of a woman's breasts. Thus, MOVIEGUIDE® finds THE HUNTING WIVES excessive and advises all audiences to avoid the show.

More Detail:
THE HUNTING WIVES is a series on Netflix that follows the story of Sophie, a Boston native who has recently moved to Texas with her family so her husband can pursue a prestigious architecture contract. Sophie, however, is less than thrilled about the move as she feels uncomfortable having to find a new social circle. Luckily, while at a party, she connects with Margo, her husband’s boss’s wife, who invites her into her circle of friends. Though Sophie expects these women to live relatively tame lives, she quickly finds that isn’t the case after spending an eye-opening evening with them.
Hinting at Sophie’s future, the episode begins with her running in the woods while shots ring out behind her. Eventually, one of the shots finds its mark, and Sohie is left on the ground, crawling to escape her attacker. The rest of the episode takes place three weeks earlier, starting with a party Sophie and her husband, Graham, are attending.
Having just moved to Texas for Graham to pursue an alluring architecture contract, Sophie and Graham do not know anyone at the party. Overwhelmed by anxiety, Sophie heads to the bathroom to take medicine she has been prescribed to help with the issue. On the way there, she meets Margo, who leaves a lasting impression on her. When Sophie returns to her husband, he spots his new boss, and when they go over to say hi, Sophie learns that Margo is his wife.
Margo welcomes Sophie and Graham to town and asks Sophie to join the group of the town’s well-off wives who meet every week at a lake house. Though Sophie is hesitant to accept the offer, she is given no choice and commits to the event.
Later that week, Sophie arrives at the lake house and meets half a dozen other women, along with Margo. After making their introductions, they hop on a boat and speed off to shoot skeet. Afterwards, Sophie is ready to head home, but Margo and the girls are off to a club. Though Sophie doesn’t want to go, Margo tells her to loosen up and have some fun, so Sophie follows along. As the night unfolds, Sophie unknowingly becomes entangled in a web of lies and secrets.
