Labor Day’s here—time to kick back, fire up the grill, and queue up a good movie (or ten). It’s also a time to honor the spirit of hard work and dedication. These 10 must-watch films capture that drive while giving you the perfect stories to enjoy over the long weekend.
HIDDEN FIGURES
HIDDEN FIGURES is an engaging, encouraging, uplifting salute to three African-American women who contribute greatly to the 1960s NASA program during the Space Race with Communist Russia. Led by three fantastic actresses, HIDDEN FIGURES is an uplifting movie that exemplifies a positive way to stand with Christian strength and grace in the face of opposition, but caution is advised for older children due to many light obscenities and one strong profanity.

COURAGEOUS
COURAGEOUS is an exciting, funny and powerful story about four police officer and a Hispanic carpenter realizing that they need to be better fathers. COURAGEOUS has extremely poignant, heart-wrenching moments, mixed with some of the funniest scenes ever made.

THE ULTIMATE GIFT
THE ULTIMATE GIFT is about a smart-aleck young man who goes on a treasure hunt for the gift left to him by his late, rich grandfather. THE ULTIMATE GIFT is just that — a very entertaining, emotional, finely crafted, highly polished gem with a very strong Christian worldview that teaches valuable lessons.

BLUE MIRACLE
BLUE MIRACLE is an enjoyable drama streaming on Netflix about a man in Cabo, Mexico who’s on the brink of losing his orphanage, so he enters a fishing competition with a grumpy former winner. BLUE MIRACLE is a wonderful, heartwarming and often funny Christian drama that’s extremely entertaining, morally uplifting and spiritually inspiring.

THE HILL (2023)
THE HILL tells the inspiring true story of Rickey Hill, a young boy with a degenerative spinal disease whose dream is to play Major League Baseball and, despite having to wear leg braces for most of his childhood, and his father’s strong desire for him to become a pastor, perseveres. THE HILL is a morally uplifting story of a real-life miracle and champions courage, perseverance, faith, and forgiveness, but it does have brief, light foul language and two scenes of drunkenness.

THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS
THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS, starring Will Smith and his real-life son, is based on the true life and struggles of Chris Gardner as he attempts to create a better life for himself and his young son. One of the most inspirational movies of the year, the movie puts forth a strong message about a parent’s commitment to their child and that with hard work and a belief in one’s self, great things can be accomplished.

IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE
IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE is the Christmas classic starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed about the struggling owner of a small-town savings and loan company who’s at the end of his rope but, with the help of a bumbling but lovable angel, discovers he’s the richest man in the world! IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE is arguably the best movie ever made. It’s certainly the most uplifting movie ever made, an instant masterpiece by Director Frank Capra with brilliant performances by Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed, Lionel Barrymore, and a cast of terrific character actors.

DIVINE INFLUENCER
DIVINE INFLUENCER is a faith-based movie on Pure Flix about a spoiled 29-year-old woman whose wealthy but philanthropic Christian parents cut off her allowance, and the woman ironically ends up at a homeless dormitory for women, where she learns about God, Jesus and a Christian life of helping other people. DIVINE INFLUENCER is a heartwarming, uplifting movie about a spoiled, selfish woman finding Jesus and learning to help others.
