BUT I’M A CHEERLEADER

What You Need To Know:

BUT I’M A CHEERLEADER is a satirical look at a teenage girl forced to go to a school for sexual “deprogramming” of people with homosexual desires. After showing signs of homosexual behavior, Megan Bloomfield is sent off to True Directions, a school that tries to reverse homosexual behavior in boys and girls. Upon her arrival, she meets Graham, a defiant lesbian forced into the program by her parents. Megan and Graham are at odds at first, but when assigned to each other as partners in class, they begin to grow closer. Throughout this movie there are many scenes with suggestive sexual behavior, much of which involves both Christian and homosexual stereotypes. In fact, when one of the other teenagers confronts Megan about her sexual relationship with her boyfriend, Megan replies, “No, I’m a Christian.” This, however, does not stop her from participating in promiscuous behavior with a girl.

The real agenda in this movie is a politically correct one that includes slams against Christians. This results in an obvious, shallow and vulgar depiction of the movie’s characters. The characters in this movie exhibit behavior based more on their sexual impulses rather than their brains

More Detail:

BUT I’M A CHEERLEADER is a satirical look at a teenage girl forced to go to a school for sexual “deprogramming” of people with homosexual desires. Although she begins to consider herself a lesbian in therapy and tries to become heterosexual, she becomes attracted to another girl.

After showing signs of homosexual behavior, Megan Bloomfield (Natasha Lyonne) is sent off to True Directions, a school that tries to reverse homosexual behavior in boys and girls. Upon her arrival, she meets Graham (Clea DuVall), a defiant lesbian forced into the program by her parents. Megan and Graham are at odds at first, but when assigned to each other as partners in class, they begin to grow closer.

Throughout this movie there are many scenes with suggestive sexual behavior, much of which involves both Christian and homosexual stereotypes. In fact, when one of the other teenagers confronts Megan about her relationship with her boyfriend (if she had sex with him), Megan replies, “No, I’m a Christian.” This, however, does not stop her from participating in promiscuous behavior with a girl.

BUT I’M A CHEERLEADER satirizes the recent publicity about homosexuals turning their lives around, coined “deprogramming” by some. This type of turnaround which many people with homosexual desires have made, however, is not a product of an agenda, but rather a saving knowledge of God and Jesus Christ. The real agenda in this movie is a politically correct one that includes slams against Christians. This results in an obvious, shallow depiction among the movie’s characters regardless of their sexuality. Filled with politically correct messages, the characters in this movie exhibit behavior based more on their sexual impulses rather than their brains.

This movie is typical of other pro-homosexual movies, which often include many strong, crude sexual situations and explicit language. It shows that the whole agenda of these movies is not just to present an “alternative lifestyle,” but to corrupt the sexual behavior of teenage, and even younger, children. The real, sometimes hidden, goal of these movies is to destroy orthodox Christian beliefs and the Bible and to censor Christians by slandering them in the public arena.
