Ted Baehr Gets Rave Reviews Delivering the Distinguished Lecture at Pepperdine University
Dr. Ted Baehr, founder and publisher of Movieguide®, was selected as the prestigious Distinguished Lecturer at the Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series event at Pepperdine University.
The attendees were captivated by Dr. Baehr’s research findings from over 40 years of detailed study of culture and the entertainment industry. The goal of the presentation, however, was not to only deliver important facts and figures on the culture and entertainment. Rather, Dr. Baehr encouraged the audience to apply biblical principles of discernment, the key to what he has termed, “Media Wisdom.”
Dr. Baehr leads a team at Movieguide® which analyzes the moral content, theology, and worldviews in the hundreds of stories created each year by the entertainment community. These elements identify significant cultural trends that must be evaluated and understood by the moviegoing public.
“Every story presents a worldview and that worldview must be evaluated in terms of the principles of the Bible. That’s Media Wisdom,” says Dr. Baehr.
Enormous feedback in days following the Lecture proved that Dr. Baehr’s Lecture not only taught but also empowered the audience to engage in their culture. Dr. Baehr continues to speak through the world on issues of Media Wisdom.
Here is just a sampling of the warm letters of encouragement.
I am always amazed at the ways in which we can share Christ from so many different professions. I appreciate what you are doing to support the movie industry in providing more Christ centered films.
Thanks again for sharing with our students and alumni.

Their faith needs to be revived, and you helped to do that through your lecture Dr. Baehr. Of course, the students want to hear about business and tactical methods to start an organization, in which you described, and we got to talk about the social enterprise a little of the Movieguide magazine subscriptions, and how that supports the ministry, as many of the students are starting businesses to fund their own causes.
I think God brought you to Pepperdine, for perhaps, “such a time as this.” This is my feeling, and I think its exactly as God seemed to relay to you, He wanted to be lifted up, and wanted this audience to have revival. So thank you again for coming! I’m glad the whole family could be there too! I don’t think I’ve seen you all in one place, at one time like that:).
Thank you Dr. Baehr!

CFTVC and Movieguide® are an international non-profit ministry dedicated to “redeeming the values of the entertainment industry, according to biblical principles, by influencing industry executives and by informing and equipping the public about the influence of the entertainment media.”
Every year, Movieguide® publishes its Report to the Entertainment Industry, a comprehensive economic analysis showing that people in the United States and overseas prefer family-friendly, morally uplifting movies and DVDs extolling Christian, biblical, patriotic, conservative, and free market values.
We’re sustained by donations averaging about $25. Only a tiny portion of our readers give. If everyone reading this right now gave $7, our fundraiser would be done within an hour. That’s right, the price of one movie ticket is all we need. If Movieguide® is useful to you, please take one minute to keep it online and growing. Thank you.
Movieguide® is a 501c3 non-profit and all donations are tax-deductible.
