All the Things You Can Do While Sitting from Your Couch

As many people quarantine from home during the COVID-19 pandemic, they might be wondering what they can do to stay entertained.
Although there are obvious options such as streaming movies or reading to pass time, there are also virtual options online that consists of museums, concerts, and plays.
1.) Art Galleries
Many of the beloved art galleries around the world, have online exhibits that allow guests to observe famous pieces that include descriptions and notations. The Musée d’Orsay in Paris includes 278 masterpieces with well-known pieces being Van Gogh’s self-portrait and Manet’s “Olympia.” More online exhibits are the National Gallery of Art and the National Portrait Gallery located in Washinton D.C. Lastly, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy has a virtual walk-through of all their pieces and you can even click to view the famous ceilings. Another great online feature is observing art experiences such as Kusama’s infinity mirrors, Banksy Murals, and Van Gogh’s “Starry Night.”
2.) Museums
The British Museum in London displays a timeline of the world which you can pair with a podcast for the ultimate experience. Two museums offering virtual tours in the Washington D.C. area are the African American History and Culture museum and the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. These options can be enjoyed by kids as well as adults. Moreover, a 5-hour video tour of the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia can be perfect to kill time and to learn more about the 45 galleries.
3.) Classical Concerts
People all over the world enjoy the comfort of music during tough times. The Vancouver Symphony allows you to view their livestream of the BeethovenFest from the comfort of your own home. Another option is the Berlin Philharmonic where you can watch a variety of online performances.
4.) Operas, Plays, and Ballets
The Royal Opera House in London is making it an option to watch famous operas and ballets right from your house. The Vienna State Opera is allowing people from all over the world to stream their latest performances. Lastly, there is a 1-month free trial to stream Broadway shows right from your living room. After the free trial expires, the subscription costs $8.99 a month.
5.) Zoos and Aquariums
Many parents are looking for entertainment options for their kids, as schools are shut right now. There are a few zoos and aquariums that are allowing online viewing and activities to keep kids busy. The Cincinatti Zoo is hosting an online safari from their Facebook Page at 3p.m. ET with up close experiences. The San Diego Zoo and the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta have live streams and cams so that kids can check up on their favorite animals. Lastly, the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago is sharing behind the scenes videos and virtual experiences on their Facebook page.
