Keith Urban Says Nicole Kidman Is ‘The One’ He Needed His Whole Life

By Cooper Dowd, Staff Writer

Country singer Keith Urban and the Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman were married in June of 2006. In a recent episode of the “Armchair Expert” podcast, hosted by actors Dax Shepherd and Monica Padman, Kieth Urban said he found “the one” when he married Kidman.

“She’s just the one,” Urban said. “She’s the one that I was searching for my whole life, and everything not only changed but had to change in me if I was gonna go that road.”

He credits Kidman for helping him on his journey to sobriety. Kidman staged an intervention for her husband, and Urban received the rehab needed to break his alcohol and cocaine addictions.

“It was like the ultimate fork-in-the-road moment in my life, and it was literally like you either get this right now or you are never, ever gonna get it right. This is your one shot,” Urban said.

He said that his relationship with Kidman is everything to him. There was never a hesitation or reservation about their love.

“It felt so obvious,” Urban added. “I knew where I was going … [My marriage] was everything I was looking for and then beyond. Just beyond.”

At the time of the rehab, Urban posted a video on his website that thanked his fans for their cards and letters and his wife for her support in his battle.

“It helped so much. Especially through a lot of the lonely days, which there was plenty of those in there,” Urban said.

“But my wife stayed extraordinarily strong and loving, and my friends and family were there, and man, it’s just been really overwhelming. I feel so much gratitude, and it feels really good to have gone through it and be where I am right now.”

The two celebrities grew up in the same country of Australia. They were vocal about the fires that threatened a large portion of Australia in January.

Movieguide® reported on their statements previously:

Actress Nicole Kidman and country Singer Keith Urban are praying for Australia amid the devastating wildfires.

“Our family’s support, thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the fires all over Australia,” said Kidman.

The couple, who own a home in Bunya Hill, Australia, revealed they’ve donated $500,000 to the Rural Fire Services.

Kidman shared a photo on her Instagram, listing organizations others can donate to so they can help fight the blazes.
