Trump Removes ‘From the Desk’ Segment from His Website, Plans to Join Social Media

By Movieguide® Staff

On May 4, former President Donald Trump announced his new communication platform that he said would allow him to exercise his free speech. After nearly a month, Trump’s adviser Jason Miller said that “From the Desk of Donald J Trump” would no longer appear on the website due to plans for Trump to join a different social media site.

After Twitter and Facebook suspended the former president’s accounts following the Capitol Hill riots on Jan. 6, Trump announced that his new platform would allow his fans and followers to stay up-to-date.

The blog segments initially under “From the Desk of Donald J Trump” now appear in the “news” tabs and were renamed to “Statement by Donald J Trump, 45th President of the United States.”

Trump announced on May 24, noting that traffic on his site “would be even greater if we were still on Twitter and Facebook, but since Big Tech has illegally banned me, tens of millions of our supporters have stopped using these platforms because they’ve become ‘boring’ and nasty.”

“This is meant to be a temporary way of getting my thoughts and ideas out to the public without the Fake News spin, but the website is not a ‘platform,’” Trump said. “It is merely a way of communicating until I decide on what the future will be for the choice or establishment of a platform. It will happen soon. Stay tuned!”

Trump’s adviser also noted that Trump would return to some form of social media after responding to a tweet posted by Amy Tarkanian.

“‘The Desk of Donald J. Trump’ section of President Trump’s website has been removed and will not be returning per @JasonMillerinDC. Perhaps this is a precursor to him joining another social media platform?” Tarkanian tweeted.

“Yes, actually, it is. Stay tuned!” Miller responded.

Movieguide® previously reported on the launch of Trump’s blog site:

In response to Facebook, Twitter, and other members of Big Tech who have sought to silence conservative voices, former President Donald Trump recently announced his new communication platform where he can “speak freely and safely.”

The web platform is called “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump” and can be found at www.DonaldJTrump.com/desk.

At launch, Trump has posted comments, images and videos without any restrictions or bans.

“In a time of silence and lies, a beacon of freedom arises,” a video said on the platform. “A place to speak freely and safely.”

The platform also allows visitors to like his posts and share them on Facebook and Twitter. However, followers of Trump are unable to leave replies.

The unveiling of Trump’s new website comes a day before Facebook’s Oversight Board concluded to uphold the suspension of Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.
