Kirk Cameron, Candace Cameron Bure Share How to Instill Biblical Values in Children

Kirk Cameron sat down with his sisters, Candace Cameron Bure, Bridgette Cameron and Melissa Cameron, to talk about how they instill Christ-like values in their children despite today’s culture.

“[The thing I want them to take away] would be the love from the Lord,” Melissa said. “I want to pass on to my children…it would be to really trust your mom and dad and God, who know you and love you.”

Kirk agreed: “Think of how many more voices are in our kids’ ears, through their phone with social media….how important it is to have a trusted voice.”

The siblings also talked about watching their children grow up and leave home, and the different choices they’ve made as parents, such as schooling.

Melissa spoke about her and her husband’s decision to home-school their children and how it has increased their time spent together as a family.

“What I love the most about it is it…gives me time with them,” she said. “I get to delight in them and enjoy them.”

Melissa added that “family always came first,” during their childhood.

After their discussion, the siblings decided to go to the go-kart track and race each other. The trip ended in the ER after Candace crashed her go-kart.

“She’s doing fine; she’s just bruised up,” Kirk explained, joking: “I have taken sibling rivalry to a whole new level.”

At the end of the discussion, the Cameron siblings prayed and thanked God for protecting Candace and for a speedy recovery.

“They say the family that prays together, stays together,” Kirk said.
