THE CHOSEN creator Dallas Jenkins shared how his team is preparing for the final round of filming and what fans can expect from the last season.
“We start filming Season 7 in about a month. Can you believe it?” Jenkins said in a March 29 livestream. “The scripts are done, we’re making some adjustments for budget and schedule. This is going to be another long season of filming for us. We want to finish strong. We want to land the plane in a very beautiful way.”
“We have the responded to the scripts from the cast and from some of those who’ve been reading them,” he added. “So far, I’m getting texts of just excitement and tears and joy and beauty and all these things that I think you’re going to see in Season 7.”

The final season will explore the resurrection of Jesus and how He impacted His disciples as He met with them before ascending into heaven.
While the final season of THE CHOSEN promises to be just as powerful as the seasons that came before it, fans will have to wait a while before they can watch it. Season 6 of THE CHOSEN has yet to release but is slated for this November, promising a deluge of emotions as Jesus faces His humiliation and death.
“Everyone knows the basics of this part of the story, but not everyone knows the ‘why’ of the crucifixion and the extraordinary events of these 24 hours,” Jenkins said about the forthcoming season. “We realized this not only deserved a season of television but a standalone full-length theatrical event as well. We wrote and filmed all of it with this in mind.”
He also recently announced that his studio has begun work on the limited series JOSEPH OF EGYPT, which will release before the final season of THE CHOSEN.
“You’re going to see Season 6 first, and you’re even going to see our JOSEPH OF EGYPT limited series before Season 7,” Jenkins said, discussing the timeline of the upcoming releases.
“This is a story that can be told in eight episodes,” he told Variety about the series when it was first announced. “We have writers that love THE CHOSEN and want to have their own stamp on it, but also defer to the larger CHOSEN story that we’re telling. All filmmakers and storytellers that we bring into our fold are going to be people who love the mothership show and have no interest in rewriting the way that we do things.”
Fans of THE CHOSEN and Jenkins’ work have a lot to look forward to as the groundbreaking series begins to wrap up and Jenkins starts to bring his talents to other projects.
