Country Star Donates $1.2 Million to Help His High School Out

Morgan Wallen is helping his old high school upgrade their athletic department with a whopping $1.2 million donation.

“Thank you, [Morgan Wallen], for this huge donation to Gibbs High School athletics,” Knox County mayor Glenn Jacobs tweeted, along with a screenshot of the official donation resolution.

The resolution reads, “A resolution of the Commission of Knox County, Tennessee, approving a grant agreement with Morgan Wallen Foundation for receipt of grant funding in the amount of $1,200,000.00 for Gibbs High School to upgrade the current Gibbs High School baseball field into a versatile, state-of-the-art multi-use athletic field; and in conjunction with the multi-use field project, approving of Gibbs High School constructing a softball hitting and pitching facility on the school’s campus.”

Wallen graduated from Gibbs in 2011, and just last year, the school renamed their baseball field to the “Morgan Wallen Field,” Whiskey Riff reported.

He has previously given back to his high school; in 2023, the country singer donated $35,000 to Gibbs High School’s chorus, band and baseball team.

He also recently gave three schools in Tennessee’s Hawkins Country $5,000 grants for their music programs.

“Music is an important part of education,” Hawkins County Director of Schools Matt Hixson said in a press release. “Foundations such as this are significant partners for our schools, and we greatly appreciate their support.”

Wallen makes these donations through the Morgan Wallen Foundation, which he established to support athletics and music programs for young people.

“The Morgan Wallen Foundation combines my love of sports, music and community service,” he said in a statement posted to the foundation’s website. “Without sports and music, I don’t know where I’d be. I know my life would look a whole lot different, so I want to give great opportunities to kids in these areas. In addition, MWF lends a helping hand when we see communities in need.”

The website states, “Beginning with Morgan’s hometown of Sneedville, TN and spreading across the country, MWF has donated funds for the rehabilitation of sports facilities, baseball fields, sports equipment, music programs and instruments. On Morgan’s 2022 Dangerous Tour, MWF supplied 500,000 meals across tour stops to help combat food insecurity during natural disasters in the US.”

Through his foundation, Wallen is working to ensure children across the country have access to music and athletic programs.
