New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson’s faith in Christ helped him overcome his depression and suicidal thoughts.
“Who is Jesus to me? He’s my Lord and savior. He’s my everything and I really mean that,” the athlete said in a video with Jesus Won. “The person that I once was before I gave my life to Christ, the place that I was in, I was in a very dark place. Depressed at one point, suicidal at one point. Living in shame and guilt over the things that I’ve done.”
“When I came to know the Lord Jesus Christ and learned about what He did on the cross for all of us, laying down His life for our sins so that we may be forgiven and resurrected, so that we may be saved, that we may resurrect with Him in a new life, in a relationship with Him, with the hope that one day we may spend eternity with Him,” Henderson expressed.

The running back then recited John 16:33, which reads, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
“Man, in this life, we will face many challenges, especially being a follower of Christ,” Henderson continued. “You know, God never said everything was always gonna go our way. But He promised us through that verse that life will be hard, life will be challenging, but put your faith in me. Don’t put your trust in this world. Don’t put your trust in money or whatever. Put your trust in me and trust that I have overcome the world.”
Henderson also talked about Romans 8:18, which says, “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”
“And so that’s our hope — that everything that we go through in this life is hard, it’s painful, but we can put our trust in Christ and trust that He’s overcome it and trust that one day we’re gonna overcome with Him what we already overcame by putting our faith in Jesus Christ,” the running back concluded. “But one day we will pass from this life to the next one and spend eternity with Him, and it’ll be glorious. He will wipe away all of our tears, and it’ll be great.”
Praise God for the transformation He brought in Henderson’s life and how the athlete now uses his platform to point others to Christ.
