Ben and Erin Napier Welcome Fluffy New Family Member

“I just want a dog,” Helen Napier cries, “I just want an animal friend.”

Erin Napier couldn’t say no to that, so the family recently welcomed a new puppy into their home.

“Our dog Baker passed last July and anytime Helen gets tired and emotional, oh she crushes us! Problem (😭) —> Solution. Meet the new Baker!” Erin captioned a video of Helen and then the photo of their new pup.

Baker the puppy joins Ben, Erin, Helen, and 9-month old Mae.

The HOME TOWN couple has been very open about the importance of family in their lives, especially as their children grow.

“We’re just trying to find our rhythm,” Erin tells PEOPLE. “We had a rhythm as a family of three, and now we’re a family of four. Mae needs things when she needs them, and so does Helen and so do we. It’s a challenge, but I think we’re figuring it out.”

Though they star in one of HGTV’s most popular shows, the Napiers insist that they work traditional business hours in order to spend time with family after work.

“I really don’t want someone else to raise them. I want us to be 100 percent a part of their life,” Erin says.

The couple is also working on restoring a home for themselves in the HOME TOWN season airing now.

It’s sort of a hideaway for us, a place out near family land where we can go and let the girls run on the weekends,” Ben says.

Ben is also in the process of trying to decide if he will restore Clint, his classic truck, which has become an icon for the show.

Movieguide® previously reported:

“Well, Clint, my noble steed, my trusty stallion, my workhorse, my blue ox is in the ditch,” he wrote. “The transmission is shot. I’m at a crossroads.”

Napier said that the truck has sentimental value because the truck helped start Scotsman Co. and later became a mascot of the couple’s show.

“Do I replace the transmission and keep patching him up? Or do I put a new chassis, motor, transmission, and rearend under him?” he asked fans. “I used this truck to start Scotsman Company years ago, and it has become the mascot of our show and our business. I am leaning towards the full swap and making the truck more dependable.”

If Ben restores Clint, the new puppy Baker will be able to ride shotgun.
