Ole Miss Football’s Head Coach Lane Kiffin Focuses on God As The Season Approaches

After a 10-3 record in just his second season, there are high expectations for Ole Miss’ head football coach Lane Kiffin as he and his team suit up for Year 3.
Before Kiffin, Ole Miss hadn’t had a winning record since 2015 and hadn’t won 10 or more games for over 50 years.
However, Year 3 presents some unique challenges for Kiffin, as his anchor, quarterback Matt Corral departed after the 2021 season for the NFL draft.
According to Sports Spectrum, a total of 11 Ole Miss starting players left the team last year. While the new season always brings with it a sense of uncertainty and promise, Kiffin said he is focused on Christ rather than his success as a coach.
“[My faith] just really helps me when I’m in moments of where you’re so worried about what everybody’s thinking — your wins, your losses, all this — when I can remind myself, ‘OK, that’s really what I’m defined by. How am I being as a kid to the Lord, as His son?’” Kiffin said on the Sports Spectrum podcast in April. “I’m not great at it, but when I do that, that puts things in perspective for me a lot.”
“[My purpose now] is to help these guys, to really use my mistakes and the things that have happened to me … to really help them in these different situations,” he added.
Kiffin is open about his Christian faith, and often posts scripture or encouraging messages on his social media.
