How the Farm Affirms Jenny Marrs’ Faith: ‘We Have a Really Good Shepherd Leading Us’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Jenny Marrs recently found some inspiration from her family’s farm animals and shared her thoughts with her Instagram followers.

The HGTV star posted a video of two of her kids petting their donkey and flock of sheep as they helped their parents move the animals to a new pasture.

“Once again, my sheep have taught me more about God’s heart for His kids,” she wrote.

Her caption continued:

Today, Luke helped me move the sheep to a new pasture. It was a little hectic when two ran into the yard and it took a LOT of work for us to get them into the pasture where they would be safe. Once they were all safely moved, we had to fill their water troughs and check all of the fencing for holes. We needed to ensure Jack and Belle were moved in to their little house in the pasture with food, water and bedding so they can keep the sheep safe from predators.

This evening, I’m physically tired but my heart is so full knowing they are safe in an abundant pasture.

As we watched the sheep graze happily, I was reminded of the book “A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23.” In it, Phillip Keller says, “He is the owner who delights in His flock. For Him there is no greater reward, no deeper satisfaction, than that of seeing His sheep contented, well fed, safe and flourishing under His care.

No wonder Jesus said, ‘I am the good shepherd.’”

I love knowing that, as His kids, God wants us to find contentment and joy even when we want to choose our own path by wandering into the yard instead of the place of abundance He has designated for us. Regardless of our detours, He’ll keep on working tirelessly to get us where we should be. And, in that place, we will flourish. Not because of anything we did on our own, but because we have a really good Shepherd leading us.

Marrs is obviously thankful for all the blessings in her life, and she and her family are constantly working to give back to the rest of the world. Movieguide® previously reported:

FIXER TO FABULOUS star Jenny Marrs recently shared a sweet video of her family spending time on their farm, from picking blueberries to taking care of their cows.

“Checking the fields each evening, pulling weeds, and picking berries has been the framework for our kiddo’s summers for the past seven years,” Jenny shared. “They jump in and work right alongside us. It’s a beautiful privilege to be able to work as a family to create delicious food and to cultivate a space for our community to gather and experience a slice of farm life.”

Her caption continued:

This small blueberry farm has taught us that we can all DO something bigger than ourselves. The ripple effect of these fields reaches farther than we ever anticipated. It isn’t easy but it IS simple: profits from our u-pick farm in NW Arkansas benefit a farm training program for orphaned teens in Marondera, Zimbabwe.

This farm is one of the legacy’s Dave and I want to pass down to our children. We want them to value hard work and nature and, most of all, generosity. We want them to understand that it’s never “us” and “them.” It’s not “here” and “there.” We have had shared meals with our Zimbabwean leaders at their table and at ours. We have become dear friends who do life together as best we can across a sea. We hold them close in prayer and we have hopefully shown our kiddos that even though we live in different countries, with different cultures and foods and languages and looks, we are united in our humanity and our desire to run the race set before us well. With so much division in our world today, we pray these experiences will allow our kids to rise up as world changers and light bearers for their generation.

So, yes. These fields may look like just an ordinary blueberry farm. But, there is so much more sewn into this soil: hopes and prayers and hard work and heaps of love.

We’ll see you in the fields in less than a month!

The Marrs family owns The Berry Farm in Bentonville, Arkansas, a pick-your-own blueberry farm that donates all proceeds to Help One Now
