RED STATE

What You Need To Know:

RED STATE is one of the most vile Anti-Christian movies ever made. In it, three exceeding foul mouthed high school boys arrange a group sexual encounter with a woman they found seeking sex on the Internet. They are lured into a trap set by Alan Cooper, the “pastor” of a church that protests at homosexual funerals carrying “Go to Hell” signs. The boys are forced to watch the gruesome execution of a homosexual carried out as part of a “church” service. Police investigating a car accident overhear gunshots on the church compound, leading to a standoff with the Federal Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).

RED STATE is the kind of movie made by hateful, left-wing secular humanists who see Christians and conservatives as self-righteous bigots out to force their beliefs on others. The movie ends with a surviving ATF agent giving the movie’s message, that “strange things happen when you believe.” RED STATE is one of the strange things that happen when you believe horrible things about Evangelical Christians. While complaining about how Christians are filled with hate, the filmmakers spew hate, obscenity, and profanity themselves in large ugly doses.

Content:

More Detail:

RED STATE is one of the most vile anti-Christian movies ever made. The offensive title implies that the demented thinking of the featured pastor and his church members reflect the views of fundamental Christians living in the “red states” (those that vote Republican).

While the movie is hardest on Christians, it certainly doesn’t paint a pretty picture of anyone. It opens with three exceeding foul mouthed high school boys arranging a group sexual encounter with a 35-year-old women they found seeking sex on the internet. They are lured into a trap set by Alan Cooper, the pastor of a church that protests at the funerals of homosexuals carrying “Go to Hell” signs. The boys are forced to watch the gruesome execution of a homosexual carried out as part of a “church” service.

Police investigating a car accident overhear gunshots on the church compound, leading to a standoff with the Federal Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). When a full shootout is started by the local sheriff, the ATF is given orders to kill everyone quickly and leave no witnesses. At one point, an ATF agent executes an unarmed church member and a hostage trying to surrender.

With one homosexual gagged and bound to a cross using massive amounts of plastic wrap, “Pastor” Cooper preaches a somewhat interactive sermon about how God abhors the wicked and has “perfect hatred” for them. He declares homosexuals to be Satan’s instrument on earth and says the man about to be executed is the equivalent of an insect.

While there is a point in the movie where the ATF agent implies that even neo-Nazis reject Cooper’s church as off-the-wall radical, there’s still a strong association of this horrible group with Christians who oppose sin. The absolute worst examples known of churches that twist Scripture into cult beliefs are nowhere near as horrible as how they’ve been portrayed in this movie. The portrayal would actually be closer to Islamic behavior where fathers have been known to behead their own daughters for dating an “infidel.”

While Christians are called to abhor sin, they are commanded to love sinners. Jesus gave his life for sinners. He didn’t go around executing them.

What Jesus did do was to transform Western civilization. The reason Americans are repulsed by the Holocaust, the Soviet Communist Gulag, and Islamic executions is because the heart of America’s value system is Christian values. We consider our rights to be given by God, not by the whim of a dictator. Because of Christianity’s profound influence on our culture, we also believe using the “f” word as punctuation and teenagers seeking group sex are uncivilized behavior.

What evangelical Christians really want is a more civil society – a society where people follow the golden rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Christians would like to see life in the United States be more like heaven and less like hell.

This is the kind of movie made by people who see Christians and conservatives as self-righteous bigots out to force their beliefs on others. The movie ends with a surviving ATF agent giving the filmmaker’s summation of the movie’s message – that “strange things happen when you believe.” This movie is one of the strange things that happen when you believe horrible things about Evangelical Christians. While complaining how Christians are all filled with hate, the filmmakers spew hate, obscenity, and profanity themselves in large ugly doses.

The movie THE BLIND SIDE presented a much more accurate picture of Christian behavior. It also did 200 times better at the box office. Few Americans really want to see Christianity this brutally bashed because they know it doesn’t deserve it.
