Dwayne Johnson Surprises Young Fan Battling Rare Cancer

By Movieguide® Contributor

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson surprised a young fan battling cancer for the third time.

“This is such a special day,” Johnson said in an Instagram post. “I have been following Luna for a couple of years now, she is my biggest fan, I’m so honored, I am so honored and grateful she is my biggest fan.  I’m her biggest fan too as well, we have never met. Luna is so special, she’s one of the strongest girls on the planet.”

Luna Perrone, 12, has battled Ewing’s sarcoma off and on since she was 9.  This is now her third time fighting cancer.

“She’s been battling cancer for a few years now [and] unfortunately just received some news that the cancer has spread, and she has no idea I’m going to surprise her,” Johnson’s post continued. “I told her family ‘Tell Luna I’m setting up a lunch for you guys at my favorite hotel, and I’m sorry I can’t be there.’ So I’m going to take her food that she ordered, I’m going to be a waiter, not a good one I’m sure, and I’m going to take her food out and we’re going to surprise her for the first time.”

In the video, Johnson walks out holding her plate of food. Luna smiles as she stares at him in shock. “Hi!” she says and then gets up to hug him.

In another video shared by Good Morning America, Luna shared her excitement over meeting Dwayne Johnson, adding that after lunch, he gave her tickets to Disneyland.

“I’ve had some super cool jobs in my life – but being Luna’s waiter just might be the coolest,” he captioned his post. “They say, don’t meet ever meet your heroes, because you’ll be disappointed — well I got to meet my hero and she was AWESOME.”

“And stuff like this will always always always be the best part of fame,” Johnson added.

“Luna, thank you for the beautiful words.  I’m pulling for you, the world is pulling for you too after seeing this video.  Stay strong, sending you so much love,” Johnson concluded.

Movieguide® previously reported on the actor:

Actor Dwayne Johnson shocked a community when he showed up at The Dream Center in Los Angeles to offer encouragement, love and kindness to men and women in need…

One of the individuals the star interacted with was the expectant mother, whom his donations provided with a crib, stuffed animals and other items for her soon-to-come baby.

“[Johnson was] talking to this mother…for 10 minutes, asking what she’s going through,” Barnett explained. “She was in foster care most of her life…it meant so much for her.”

Barnett shared the experience on Instagram, noting how willing Johnson was to engage and care for those less fortunate.
