Brooke Ligertwood’s New Album Comes From ‘Traumas’: ‘The Lord is Good’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Grammy award-winning artist Brooke Ligertwood opened up about the inspiration behind her recently released second solo album, “Eight.”

“‘EIGHT’ was made and fashioned amid a constellation of traumas – some of which continue, others of which we are still trying to catch our breath from,” Ligertwood told The Christian Beat. “All that to say, it’s a message from the middle. It’s weird here. But the Lord is still good here.”

“I’ve found that every word I get to declare in this collection has stood true as getting to sit in these prayed lyrics during this process has been a balm to my rickety heart. May it be the same for those who listen,” she added.

Before the album’s release, Ligertwood shared on social media, “I pray these songs make your heart burn like they do mine.”

The musician released her single, “Fear of God,” prior to the album. She holds this track close to her heart.

“I’ve gotten to write so many songs in my life,” she told The Christin Beat. “Maybe a thousand by now? Not sure. Whatever it is, it’s more than I’ve deserved to. I like most of them, wince at a whole lotta them (taste changes and skill grows but the Internet is forever, God help me), and deeply love a good many of them actually. But there’s a small few that I feel an otherness about. This is one of those. I feel like ‘Fear of God’ is one of the songs I was born to leave here, and that’s just that.”

The album features 11 tracks that are all prayerfully thought out and carefully created.

“With 7 billion career streams and 20 million career album sales, Ligertwood has penned a growing anthology of beloved church anthems like ‘What A Beautiful Name,’ ‘King of Kings,’ and ‘Hosanna,’ and devotional favorites like ‘Awake My Soul,’ ‘New Wine,’ ‘None But Jesus,’ and many more. Her songs have been translated into over 15 languages, and have topped the CCLI chart with two no. 1’s, and several Top 25’s.” The Christian Beat wrote.

Movieguide® previously reported on Ligertwood’s first solo album, “Seven”:

Brooke Ligertwood recently opened up about the inspiration behind her seventh studio album, SEVEN; from how the project came together, to her views on youth ministry.

“It was a great surprise to me when the Lord brought all of these songs into my life in a very short period of time, and I’ve been making albums long enough to know when you have a group of ten songs versus when you have a group of ten songs that belong together and are a collective statement,” Ligertwood explained. “but I definitely was not trying to make an album.”

Ligertwood called on a lot of friends to help her put the album together, including Jason Ingram, Elevation Pastor Steven Furtick, Brandon Lake, Phil Wickham, and her husband Scott.

“I think it’s so important that I’m always part of something that’s bigger than me and not just about me,” she shared. “I love being part of a team.”
