Is PHIL OF THE FUTURE getting a reboot?
The show, a Disney comedy that originally ran from 2004 to 2006, followed a family from the year 2121 stranded in the present after their time machine breaks down. It blended sitcom humor with science fiction, but despite its popularity, the series ended without fully resolving if the family makes it back home to their time.
Raviv Ullman, who starred as Phil Diffy, has since taken up filmmaking and shared his thoughts about a possible reboot during an interview with ScreenRant.
According to Ullman, that unfinished ending is exactly why people are still talking about the show today. He acknowledged that fans frequently approach him about a revival or reboot, often expressing a desire for closure. And though he’d be open to it, he also made it clear that no official plans are currently in motion.

He said he would “100%” be interested in the project, adding, “I like working. I love those people. Absolutely. No one has called about it, but yeah.”
Other cast members have shared their willingness to do a reboot, too. In 2017, co-star Alyson Michalka said, “I mean, sure! I wouldn’t be opposed to it. I have no idea what they’d do necessarily with the storyline, but yeah, sure.”
Right now, though, Ullman is focused on filmmaking, a love he discovered while working on PHIL OF THE FUTURE.
“During PHIL OF THE FUTURE, I would go off on the weekends with the camera crew and be their assistant camera,” he said.
“I loved filmmaking, so this is really a dream come true,” he continued. “I think because I started so young, it was just about that I loved doing it. And we’re hoping that all the love that we brought into this project, and the cast, and the incredible work of our crew shines on the screen.”
But current nostalgia-driven reboots like MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE and SCRUBS coming to fruition could be a good sign for PHIL OF THE FUTURE fans.
MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE: LIFE’S STILL UNFAIR sees original stars including Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek take on their iconic characters again.
“You don’t get to feel the meaning that it has in people’s lives until later,” Muniz said of the original series. “People tell me all the time how much they love the show and how much it means to them, and they’re showing it to their kids.”
The four-episode series will premiere on April 12 on Hulu and Disney+.
While MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE fans got their wish, it looks like PHIL OF THE FUTURE’s might be out of luck, but we can appreciate the joy it still brings.
