49ers QB Brock Purdy Focuses on Jesus as He Leads Team to Victory

Led by quarterback Brock Purdy, the San Fransisco 49ers have become one of the best teams in the NFL this season.
The team just landed a 42-19 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.
“The 49ers (9-3) are now just a game behind the Eagles (10-2) in the race for the NFC’s No. 1 seed in the playoffs,” Sports Spectrum reported. “Behind San Francisco’s offensive explosion is second-year quarterback Brock Purdy, who completed 19 of 27 passes for 314 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions — good for an impressive 148.8 passer rating, one of numerous NFL categories in which Purdy leads.”
Purdy praised his team’s hard work after the game on Sunday.
“That’s the Niner football that we know,” he said. “That’s the offense that we know, when everyone’s doing their part, when everything’s clicking, obviously some great play calls, and then everyone just makes plays and does it the right way…That’s what we expect out of ourselves.”
With all the success Purdy and the 49ers have experienced this season, the quarterback continues to deflect the glory from himself and give it back to God.
In the latest fall edition of the Sports Spectrum Magazine, he talked about God’s faithfulness.
“God is faithful. He’s never done with a story, even when you think He is,” Purdy said.
“I believe that Jesus Christ did come down, and died for my sins and rose again, and He is living and sitting beside God (the Father) on the throne. And so I believe that. It’s not just some story fairytale thing. It’s real. And it allows me to stay level-headed and real with life,” he added.
“The minute you have fame, and if you’re trying to chase status and money and all this stuff, you’ll lose your life — rather than denying yourself, picking up your cross, keeping your eyes on Jesus and His promises,” Purdy said. “Through that, that’s life, and that’s a life worth living.”
The quarterback is open about his faith on the field, too. In an October Instagram post, he shared a photo of himself in an on-field prayer circle.
In a post from last season, he said, “Can’t put a price tag on moments like these. God is so faithful.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Purdy:
In a recent interview, Shawn Purdy, father of 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, shared the importance of prayer in his family’s life.
Purdy spoke about the nerve-wracking Draft Day his family experienced, with Brock getting picked “last…[he] just barely got his foot in the door.”
During that time, Purdy shared that he was praying “for calm for our whole family, and just asking God to be present with us all, and knowing that you’re going to find the right place.”
“I know you’re going to put him where he needs to be,” Purdy recalled saying to God.
