For former NFL linebacker and current football analyst David Pollack, remembering that he’s made in God’s image changes his perspective on life.
“Man, you’re a one of one, like you were made in His image, but you were created differently,” Pollack said on an episode of the “Sports Spectrum” podcast. “And everybody’s created differently with different gifts, with different talents.

“And I would encourage anybody who looks in the mirror, and they’re like, ‘I don’t like what I see.’ Well, keep in mind when you say, ‘I don’t like what I see,’ you’re telling God He made a mistake because He made you exactly how He made you on purpose for your purpose that only you can fulfill,” Pollack continued. “Like only you can do what God created you to do. And so a lot of times we think, ‘Man, I can’t do this. I can’t do that.’ No, no, you can do amazing things. God can do amazing things through you, and He can use your individual gifts and talents to accomplish those things.”
Pollack explores God’s plan for his life in his new book Every Day Counts:
After playing four seasons at Georgia and earning All-American for three of those, he was a first-round selection for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2005. But a neck injury during his second season ended his pro football career.
He hopes his story encourages readers that “no matter what situations you find yourself in, you can make the day count by starting right where you are, using what you have, and doing what you can just for today.”
“With compelling personal stories and practical advice, this motivational guide is more than simply a football memoir or self-help book. It inspires readers to begin anew at any stage in life. Every Day Counts is not just a book — it’s a blueprint for readers to become the best version of themselves and learning that actions determine their destiny,” the book’s synopsis concludes.
Today, embrace your God-given identity and unique gifts and talents. Like Pollack, this attitude will help each of us live with purpose, resilience and confidence in every season of life.
