Former Cincinnati Bengals football star David Pollack recently revealed that his faith increases the most amid trials and suffering.

“Those are the things that we can only learn in those tough spots,” Pollack said on the “Family Goals” podcast. “Because if it’s easy and I’m choosing when to pick it up, then I’m also choosing when to put it down, right? It’s kind of like being in the weight room, like, if I really don’t want to push myself and I don’t want to do things that are hard, so be it. It’s easy. I don’t have to pick that up, like, I don’t have to put weight on a bar, but when that weight is thrown on the bar and you’ve got to pick that thing up, like, there’s no choice, you’ve been forced to do it now. You’re going to get stronger.”

One thing is for certain: Pollack has had his fair share of trials.

On March 10, he wrote on X, “I do not share much of my personal life on social media, but today is gonna be different. If you are the praying type, please lift up my wife, Lindsey. She has brain cancer, and surgery is Wednesday at Duke. So thankful to serve a loving God that meets us in our struggles!”

After a successful six-hour surgery, Pollack shared a video of his wife worshiping God.

“My Babydoll’s morning after a 6+ hour surgery. I mean ain’t God good?” the former NFL star wrote.

Pollack took to X again to thank followers for the immense prayers and positive comments.

“I know we hear a lot of negativity in this world but I’m so blown away by all the positivity and love. Felt it from so many! Just met a man & his wife in the hospital who walked up to me & my family & prayed for us! God is so good!” he wrote.

David Pollack and his wife, Lindsey, started The Pollack Family Foundation, which is dedicated to “empowering families by providing for basic needs and fundamental care as we invest in opportunities to encourage ‘Faith. Family. Community. throughout the Athens, Georgia, community and the Greater Atlanta area.”

David Pollack also worked as an ESPN broadcaster for years; however, he stepped away in 2023.

“So many to thank…Thank you ESPN, to all the great people I had the privilege to work with, all my teammates over the years, so many who played a part along the way and to all who’ve watched and cheered me on throughout this journey. I don’t know what’s next but I know it’s going to be amazing,” Pollack wrote in a post on social media.

The former NFL star knows what it’s like to deal with life’s trials, but trusting God’s plan makes persevering through all things possible.
