HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS star Kate Hudson would feel like a “failure” as a mother if her kids were obsessed with fame.
“Well, my thing is, if my kids’ drive or purpose is for fame and success, then it’s something that would feel like a failure of mine,” Hudson told Fox News Digital in an interview for the upcoming season of RUNNING POINT on Netflix. “If that is how they equate feeling significant, then, you know, they’re being fed a lie.”
The actress is mom to sons Ryder, 22, and Bingham, 12, and daughter Rani, 7.
“So, for me, the most important thing for me with my kids is that they feel self-possessed, that they understand what really drives purpose, and what does a purposeful life look like for them, and where do they hold their values, right? What are those values and why?” Hudson continued. “And if you value fame and success, we’d probably have a big sit down.”
She especially wants them to be hard workers.

“I think work ethic is something that I grew up with. I’m a worker bee. I work really hard, and I think that my thing with my kids is you just have to keep chipping away at the things that you love, and you have to show a really strong work ethic and get devoted to the things you love,” the star said. “And keep working at it because everybody recognizes a hard worker and kindness. I mean that’s success, right?”
Hudson’s oldest son, Ryder, is in college. He’s also in a band called Codependence, and his mom says he’s on track to follow in the family’s footsteps.
“Ryder — I mean, he’s clearly gonna probably follow in the footsteps of the family. And I would say he’s probably the funniest in our family. So, this is like every day for me. Nobody makes me laugh like Ryder, and he just constantly makes fun of me,” she said of Ryder on LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MYERS.
Bingham loves the stock market, his favorite stock being Foot Locker.
“I don’t know how it happened,” she said. “He follows them. He wakes up, he looks on his apps and follows his stocks, and he makes good money. He loves his stocks!”
“He trades his own stocks. He reads at 12, he reads the news about where things are,” she said. “He knows the class of each stock and each bond and all this stuff. It’s crazy. So he’ll be very interesting to watch grow up,” she said in 2024.
Hudson’s youngest, Rani Rose, enjoys being her mom’s little side kick in the kitchen.
“Rani loves food and I cook with her all the time,” Hudson said in 2022. “She’s my little helper. She’s very precise in everything she does.”
It’s wonderful to see a celebrity like Hudson work so hard to teach her children about what really matters.
