DWTS Alum Jenna Johnson Shares ‘Cutest Father/Son Duet’

DANCING WITH THE STARS pros Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy’s son is already showing some musical talent.
“The cutest father/son duet I’ve ever seen,” Johnson captioned an Instagram video of Chmerkovskiy and their son, Rome. “Our little Rome loves music and just recently started using his voice in what I assume is his version of ‘singing.’”
Rome was one of the many cheering on Chmerkovskiy as he competed in and won the latest season of DANCING WITH THE STARS alongside partner and actress Xochitl Gomez.
“Vote for my daddy tonight on #dwts,” Johnson captioned some photos of Rome with his father’s trophies from previous wins.
Gomez shared her gratitude for Chmerkovskiy in a recent Instagram post.
“I’m forever grateful for my journey on Dancing With the Stars and to whoever made the decision to pair Val and I together,” Gomez wrote on Instagram. “@valentin you inspire me so much, you’ve made a huge impact on me. You have shown me respect, care, and love combined with work, determination, and focus- yet you made sure I had the most fun possible. And thank you to @jennajohnson for supporting me and allowing me to form close friendships with your family.”
Johnson and Chmerkovskiy welcomed Rome in January of 2023.
“Our world is forever changed,” the couple announced in a joint Instagram post.
Johnson has spoken about how important family is to her.
“Feeling incredibly thankful this year!! Our first Thanksgiving as a family of 3,” she wrote on Instagram. “I remember praying/wishing/hoping for these family moments and I cannot believe that they are here and I get to experience them with these two loves of my life. Hoping all of you had a beautiful day surrounded by love and gratitude.”

DANCING WITH THE STARS’ Jenna Johnson is opening up about balancing her career and motherhood.
“It’s an adjustment for sure, but it’s so rewarding,” Johnson told PEOPLE. “I think I’m so excited to be back on the show. And then getting to come home to my sweet, chunky baby is just a dream. So I feel I truly have the best of both worlds right now. It’s exhausting, but it’s so worth it.”
The couple spoke about what it’s like to rejoin DWTS as parents and if it’s changed their perspectives on competing.
“It hasn’t,” Chmerkovskiy told Good Morning America. “I think being on the show is an incredible privilege before being a parent, after being a parent. Now obviously, you kind of appreciate a lot of things in a different way. But, you know, my commitment to the show hasn’t changed. It’s just fun to have our kid now see us on TV, kind of witness what we do and then you recognize how special it is what we do, when you have someone at home watching you.”
“I think for me, I took last season off obviously ’cause I was pregnant, and so coming back this season … I had so much pride in wanting to show [my son] what I do,” Johnson added. “And so I really feel like — because I have to leave him for rehearsals and whatnot — I feel like I’m really doing this for him. To show him that mommy and daddy can work and they’re pretty good at what they do. So, I’m excited to have him watch us.”
