Jenny Marrs Shares Advent Reflections: ‘Someday, It Will All Be Made New’

Jenny Marrs is reflecting on God’s plan as she remembers past Christmases.

“I bought these hats when I was pregnant with the boys and saved them because they represented so much more than just a cute hat,” she captioned a series of pictures of children Ben and Nate, Charlotte and Luke wearing the same Christmas hats.

She continued, “They were among the first items I allowed myself to purchase for our babies on the way. Out of fear from all of the years of loss, I held my joy for these new lives close during my pregnancy.”

Marrs explained that she took Christmas card photos with the twins wearing the hats, and when the rest of her children came along, they also wore the hats, which “fit perfectly” every time.

“These photos came up on my ‘memories’ this morning and the flood of emotions came with them: sorrow for the years spent longing to be a momma, grief for the earliest years missed with our Sylvie-girl, but above all, immense gratitude for an abundance of beautiful, unexpected and miraculous blessings,” the HGTV star wrote.

She continued, “If you’re in a season of waiting for your own Christmas hat miracle, I know that the Advent season can be harder than most. It can be a reminder, not of the Hope we look to, but of the one miracle or unanswered prayer just out of reach. If you’re in the pain, desperate for Hope, hear God’s words: ‘Don’t be afraid. Just trust me.’ (Mark 5:36b)”

Marrs reminded followers of God’s faith and trust in us, adding, “His story for us is never our story for us but it is always good.”

“He has a plan and a purpose and every tear and every moment of waiting and hurting will someday be redeemed. Maybe this side of eternity, maybe not. But someday, it will all be made new. That is the Hope we can cling to,” she concluded.

Marrs shared another Christmas tradition she shares with husband Dave in an excerpt from her new book, “House + Love = Home.”

“Even though we are lacking in sleep on Christmas morning, Dave and I are fueled by anticipation and joy,” Jenny wrote. “As we sit together in the whisper-quiet house, we exhale and rest in the stillness. This little Christmas morning ritual of ours is one I treasure.”

In an interview with About You, Marrs spoke about the importance of Christmas to her family.

“We always celebrate Christmas as a family. This is our time to just pause and recognize and celebrate the birth of Jesus, and to us – it’s just that in the craziness of our current life – this is a time where we actually have some downtime for a minute,” she explained. “So, it’s time to just slow down and be together, focus on family traditions and just spend time together.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the Marrs family’s Christmas traditions:

Jenny Marrs, host of HGTV’s FROM FIXER TO FABULOUS, has started posting her Christmas snapshots on Instagram, sharing some of her favorite faith-filled traditions in the process.

In one post, she quoted Ann Voskamp’s “Unwrapping Christmas the Greatest Gift.”

“My favorite advent tradition is our Jesse tree. We’ve done this for years and it’s surreal to have the kiddos reading to me now. I love hearing them speak aloud big Truths of God’s great love,” Marrs wrote with a heart emoji.
