THE VOICE Coaches Gush Over Reba McEntire: ‘Motherly Vibe’

By Movieguide® Contributor

With a competition show like NBC’s THE VOICE, it’s easy for the light-hearted rivalry among coaches to get out of hand, but Chance the Rapper says that fellow coach Reba McEntire keeps them in check.

“We have cool little banter. It feels like she’s got a very motherly vibe,” Chance the Rapper told TODAY. “She’s keeping the show in order because you know me and John [Legend] be arguing. So, she’s just there to keep us in control.”

“Me and Reba are starting to form a bond and we got like a cool close thing going on. I’ve been learning a lot from her, for sure, and she’s been learning a little from me,” the Grammy award winner said.

“I’ve learned a lot from Chance on the rapping,” McEntire joked. “My mentor right here.”

Chance even taught Reba some dance moves they showed off in a video posted on Instagram.

“Thanks for the new dance moves @chancetherapper!” McEntire wrote.

“It’s so crazy being on the show with Reba. She’s literally country royalty,” he said.

Chance isn’t the only coach singing McEntire’s praises as they return for the hit show’s 25th season. As a rival coach, singer John Legend admits he’s naturally “worried” about competing against the dubbed Queen of Country.

“People grew up just loving her personality and who she is,” Legend said. “And, so, she has an edge with just about everybody that comes up here on our stage. So she’s always going to be a threat.”

Another coaching team, country duo Dan + Shay, said Reba is one of their all-time favorites.

“We’re fans. We know her entire catalogue. We go to her shows and sing along to every single song,” Dan Smyers of Dan + Shay said.

This season, Reba says one thing that she learned from last season is that she will have to pace herself on which singers she turns the judge’s chair for and which singers advance to the next round.

“The producers came over and said, ‘You better kind of slow down a little bit, because we still got a lot of great vocalists back there.’ And they’re so good,” she recalled.

“My team this year, I’m looking for diversity. I’m looking for, of course, talent, range. That way, when we get to the Battle Rounds, we have a difference in style to pair them together and give the best show possible,” the Country Music Hall of Fame Inductee said.

“I came back for a second season because I love the show. I love the people. Everybody on THE VOICE has been so much fun to work with,” McEntire said.

The legendary singer squashed any rumors that she wasn’t coming back this season, as reported by Movieguide®:

Reba McEntire is putting the rumors about a potential exit from THE VOICE to rest once and for all.

“Please do not click on any articles that say I am leaving THE VOICE,” she tweeted. “This is not true. These are fake websites to lure people in with clickbait where they claim I have a company to sell weight loss gummy products. This is false. I do not sell or promote any type of gummy product.”

The country superstar is gearing up for Season 25 of the singing competition show, where she’ll be joined by returning coaches John Legend and Chance the Rapper, as well as THE VOICE’s first coaching duo, Dan + Shay.

As fellow country artists, Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney are excited to spend more time with McEntire.

“Hanging out with Reba is amazing,” Smyers told PEOPLE. “She is honestly one of the sweetest people we’ve ever met in our entire lives. I just can’t say enough good things about her. She’s always been so kind to us.”
