How Houston Texans QB Case Keenum Uses Platform for God
By Movieguide® Contributor
With over a decade in the NFL, Case Keenum, a quarterback with the Houston Texans, is sharing how he’s giving back to younger players.
“All these questions you remember having and asking, all of a sudden you’re getting asked these same things,” Keenum told Jason Romano on Sports Spectrum’s podcast.
However, the athlete has fully embraced his new role and uses it to share his faith.
“It’s been an incredible journey on the field and then to kind of transition into this time with Cleveland, Buffalo and now Houston,” Keenum said. “You know, guys like Jared Goff and Baker and Josh and now CJ—to be a part of a room with those guys, it’s been so special. It’s totally different people. Totally different backgrounds and just some really, really sweet memories. Good and bad, but you can look back now on some of those heartbreaks and look at who’s around you, and it’s those guys. We created this bond that we’ll have forever. It’s been really special.”
Keenum added that it’s been special for his wife, Kimberly, as she has been ministering to the wives and girlfriends of the younger players, “these girls that are living a strange life in a new city, on a new team maybe, [experiencing] the pressures that come.”

Keenum has also ventured into unknown territory and decided to write a book.
In “Playing for More,” Keenum explains “how being a Christian helped him navigate the windy path to success. No matter what obstacle has been placed in front of him, Case believes God has a plan for him. That’s why he plays football and that’s why he’s writing this book: To glorify God and to help others who face adversity in their everyday life.”
“Am I a football player who happens to be a Christian? No, I’m a Christian who happens to be a football player. That’s my calling. That’s my defining characteristic,” he said. “Once I realized that, everything else fell into place. I became a better football player and, more importantly, a better person.”
He also uses his platform to support meaningful causes like Compassion International.
Compassion wrote, “Last week NFL featured the My Cleats, My Cause initiative. Players were able to display, on their cleats, the causes that are important to them, for one game per season. Big Thank you to @bpinion05 (Atlanta Falcons), @casekeenum7 (Houston Texans), @coreybojo (Cleveland Browns), and @tress_way (Washington Commanders) for supporting Compassion International!”

Houston Texans quarterback Case Keenum shared his gratitude for God after lifting his team to a 19-16 overtime win against the Tennessee Titans, Sports Spectrum reported.
“I just have to thank God for putting me right here in this sport with this team,” Keenum said during an on-field interview after the win. “It’s such an incredible opportunity. I’m loving every minute of it.”
“Wearing the name of ‘Houston’ on the front of my jersey, which I’ve done for a long time, and to get to do it again and represent for our city, for our team, it means a lot. It really does,” he added during the postgame press conference. “I’m built for this. I’ve been in a lot of situations, I’ve been in a lot of systems, been in a lot of different games. And God’s made me who I am for this. For moments like this.”
