Rain didn’t stop these worshipers from praising the Lord as Maverick City Music performed some of their hits like “Jireh” and “Miracles” at Epcot’s American Garden Theatre.
“What a powerful experience,” podcaster Malorie Elrod reported to CCM. “Getting to worship Jesus in the middle of Walt Disney World. The rain couldn’t stop His name from being lifted up.”
She added: “We stayed for every set, and Maverick City Music was incredible every time.”
“The skies may have opened with rain, but so did our hearts, wide open to the presence of God,” another concert attendee, Mary Cisco, said.
“The Holy Spirit moved mightily, proving that God can show up anywhere, anytime, even in the middle of Walt Disney World. It wasn’t just a concert. It was a full-on encounter. A night to remember. The heavens were rejoicing, and so were we!! What a SAVIOUR!! Forever grateful,” she continued.
CCM artists like Tauren Wells and Mercy Me have performed at Disney World in the past. Disney also hosted an annual Christian music festival “Night of Joy” that was cancelled after 35 years, but the response to City’s performance was “unlike anything that has been experienced since Night of Joy,” CHVNradio.com reported.
This isn’t the only time that Maverick City Music has brought worship to unlikely places. In 2022, the band, along with Kirk Franklin, performed their song “Kingdom” on THE VIEW, prompting Whoopi Goldberg to join in on worship session.
From worship events in Times Square to former THE VOICE contestant Lauren-Michael Sellers leading fellow contestants in a poolside rendition of Hillsong’s “Oceans,” it’s not just Maverick City that’s bringing worship outside the church walls.
“New York City streets were filled with people singing in the Spirit,” Pastor Mike Signorelli said, who led the Times Square worship event that brought in thousands. “We had many drug addicts surrender drugs, people cancel suicides. And then the best part for me is that at the very end, I commissioned all of those people now go into the streets of New York City and lead the lost to Jesus Christ.”
“It was just an incredible time,” he added.

More recently AMERICAN IDOL aired a “Songs of Faith” episode on Easter Sunday where all contestants performed gospel and worship songs along with Jelly Roll, Brandon Lake and CeCe Winans.
Evangelist and founder of Thinke.org Matt Brown shared how encouraged he was by the event and that so many artists are being bold in their faith.
“There’s a lot of those kind of people, whether it’s a sports broadcaster, an athlete, a well-known musician, that were really… expressing their faith in a way that most of us didn’t realize a lot of those people felt that way,” Brown told CBN’s Tré Goins-Phillips about the response to the broadcast.
He mentioned that the IDOL episode and the following positive responses is a sign that the culture is turning around.
“The world is healing, and in some sense, this Easter was kind of a part of that,” he added. “And so I’m just grateful for everything I saw. I know I’m not ashamed, as a believer, to say like, this is exciting. It’s incredible.”
These noteworthy worship events are also a sign that people are waking up to the fact that worship is not just for Sunday morning.
