Have Hope: Happiness on Earth Can’t Compare to Joy in Heaven, Pastor Says

Pastor and author Jonathan Pokluda says moments of happiness here on Earth are “simply commercials for the kingdom of God.”

“All that we have to look forward to is being in the presence of God forever and ever and ever in His kingdom,” he said during an episode of “The Candace Cameron Bure” podcast. “But for those who have not trusted in the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins, this is actually your heaven. This is as good as it will ever be. This place where there’s disease, there’s death, there’s heartbreak, there’s grief.”

He explained that, while we can experience beautiful moments here on Earth, they are nothing compared to the joys of heaven.

“Those moments where we laugh with friends ‘til our stomach hurts, or we see a beautiful sunset — those are simply commercials for the kingdom of God,” Pokluda said, adding, “The very best days on Earth are actually the floor of joy in heaven.”

He added, “We can experience some of the goodness of God here, but it’s veiled until we see Him face to face.”

Pokluda has been sharing his thoughts on spiritual warfare in his new book, Your Story Has A Villain: Identify Spiritual Warfare and Learn How to Defeat the Enemy.

“I think a lot of Christians hide behind what we can’t know,” he told The Christian Post. “When I turn to the Scriptures, and it says more about spiritual warfare than marriage, it seems like there’s a lot we can know. There’s a lot that the Scripture says about spiritual warfare. This book is…a layman’s guide to spiritual warfare. I sought to understand, ‘Hey, what can the enemy do? What can’t he do? What are the limitations? Why does it matter?’”

Jonathan Pokluda continued, “We often treat it like a fringe topic, but if the Bible talks about it this much, we should take it seriously.”

In an interview with Relevant Magazine, the pastor said he wants his book to be a wake-up call for Christians who might not take this spiritual war seriously.

“We blame God for Satan’s attacks,” he explained. “But James 1 tells us every good and perfect gift comes from God. Satan is the one who steals, kills and destroys. If you don’t recognize that, you’re going to live your whole life confused.”

Pokluda continued, “[If we begin engaging in spiritual warfare], we’d be battle-ready. We’d be walking in truth, in faith, in righteousness. We’d be sharing the gospel. We’d stop being entertained by sin. We’d stop letting the enemy get easy wins. And above all, we’d depend on Jesus more than we ever have.”

Pokluda’s comments remind us that there is so much more waiting for believers in heaven.
