iOS 18.5 offer parents more control over their kids’ screen time.

Parents will be able to know when their Screen Time passcode has been entered into a child’s device, which means parents will know whether their kids have gotten past parental restrictions.

Screen Time will also provide limits for how long kids can spend in a specific app, block inappropriate content and limit device access to specific times. The updates are also available on computers, through the macOS 15.5 update, Tech Radar reported.

The operating and security system will also feature some new tweaks, and the mail app will allow you to display or hide contact photos. The Settings app now allows you to view AppleCare+ info. It will also provide satellite services to all iPhone 13 users, if compatible with their carriers.

Apple provided critical security updates in 18.5. Apple urged users to download immediately for users’ safety and ease of use. The fix involved a bug that processes “a maliciously crafted image [that] may lead to unexpected app termination or corrupt process memory.”

A rep from Safe Data Storage said, “Apple acted fast, but users need to act, too. Updating your device is one of the most important things you can do to protect your private information. Tell your parents, your grandparents, your neighbor — anyone with an iPhone. These updates aren’t optional anymore — they’re your first line of defense.”

“Many people assume iPhones are immune to serious threats, but no device is immune to a vulnerability like this,” the Safe Data Storage rep explained. “If someone sends you a seemingly innocent image and your phone hasn’t been updated, it could silently wreak havoc or grant intruders access to your private files.”

The rep explained that leaving an iPhone un-updated is like leaving a door open—as long as its not updated, bugs can get in.

“And many people — especially grandparents or those less tech-savvy — don’t realize just how important these updates are,” they said.

The update launched on May 12, and iOS 19 will be revealed next week at the Worldwide Developers Conference.

TechCrunch reports there are several leaked features that iOS 19 will include. Apparently, Apple plans to rename the operating systems to reflect their release year, rather than going in numerical order. So iOS 19 will become iOS 26 as it releases next year.

It’s anticipated to have a complete virtual redesign to feel more glass-like and modern, India Today reported. It will also include Siri AI improvements, third-party AI support for apps, easier eSIM migration to Android, improved captive Wi-Fi handling and more.
