This NFL Star Doesn’t Let Failure Define His Identity. You Shouldn’t Either.

Tim Tebow knows that letting God’s truth shape our identity will make all the difference.

“The voice of truth, He said, I’m not defined by my sin. I’m not defined by my scars. I’m defined by His scars,” Tebow said in a recent Instagram post. “I get to go back and remember the voice of truth that I’m not defined by this game, that I was created in love, by love and for love, that God has a purpose and a plan.”

“And you would go over all of these truths so you could remember that this doesn’t get to define me, has not earned the right or the ability to define me,” the former NFL quarterback added. “Jesus did on that on the cross. That’s what I’m defined [by]. That’s where I get to listen to the voice of truth. And it’s so hard in life because we let so many things define us.”

Tebow added in the caption, “In a world full of loud voices telling you who to be, don’t miss the quiet one that matters most – the voice of truth. You are created with infinite worth and incredible potential. God sees you, knows you, and loves you deeply.”

Many people commented, expressing their gratitude for Tebow’s encouragement.

“I’ve been feeling invisible and forgotten and alone lately, which makes it really easy for the chaos of the world to grab hold of me-me and my thoughts. Thank you for this loving reminder ❤️” one person wrote.

Another said, “We often forget that when things are not going our way and our self-worth starts falling in our own minds. God gave his life because he knew we were all worth more than we knew. The word of God is readily available at all times, yet we don’t seek his wisdom enough in time of need. Pray ya’ll and seek God’s wisdom through scripture, we are all worth more than we can imagine, so be strong and stand proud for we are so deeply loved.”

Tebow has talked a lot about overcoming failure lately. In one post, he said, “Don’t let your lowest moment write your story.”

“Failure isn’t the end. Even your lowest moments can lead to something better. God’s grace can rewrite your story,” he added in the caption.

In another post, he said, “You don’t fail when you lose. You fail when you stop learning from it. The biggest winners? They’ve just lost more than most people are willing to.”

Tebow knows a lot about failure, and he knows that it isn’t something to define a person. Failure is something that we can use as an opportunity to learn and grow. It doesn’t get to define us; Jesus’ death and resurrection does.
