How do you believe?
In 2005, I spoke in Kiev, Ukraine, at the International Congress on the Family. Although I speak at many conferences and events, and I speak and teach almost every week, I was so deeply impressed by Kiev that I prayed that I could bring my wife Lili back to there with me within the year. (Lili graduated to be with Jesus Christ on May 5, 2022.)
Lili had trouble traveling because she had been on chemo drugs since 1996. She was blind in one eye and was going to her team of doctors at UCLA once or twice a week. Her primary doctor consented to allow an operation in September of 2005 that helped her a little. This was a dangerous operation because her disease is scarring. In March of 2007, the doctors tried another little operation and expected her not to be able to travel. Thanks be to God, the operation went better than expected.
In answer to prayer, I was asked within the year to speak at a conference in Kiev. This conference, however, did not appeal to me. It was a very select conference on Peace and Tolerance. I told the organizers that I did not believe in the politically correct rubric of tolerance because God teaches that we should not tolerate evil, and that peace can only be found in Jesus Christ, I declined three times before they insisted that I come.
Thus, my prayer was answered to bring Lili to Kiev, and I was able to preach the Gospel in very clear straightforward terms to some of the most powerful people in the Muslim and Jewish world, including Benazir Bhutto, the former President of Pakistan, the head of the Israeli army, the chief Rabbi in Jerusalem, the wealthiest Muslim in Ukraine, and six of the top people in the USA such as the head of Homeland Security.
I told the Inaugural Summit on Peace and Tolerance, a conference of international Christian, Muslim, Jewish, and political leaders, that tolerance is not the answer, but Jesus Christ and God’s love is:
Tolerance is wrong…I don’t tolerate my children staying up late. I don’t tolerate my children talking back. Furthermore, people are always trying to establish a new global order. There is a global order, but the global order of Jesus Christ is the only true global order because it’s based on love and truth, not tolerance. The Bible says you have to be loving if you’re from God. If you’re not loving, you’re not from God. But even so, God’s love does not tolerate evil or falsehood.
